Preparing 150 Children for the 2026/2027 School Year

Hope for Destitute Kids Liberia (HDKL), in partnership with the US Institute of Diplomacy and Human Rights (USIDHR), has launched an impactful initiative ahead of the upcoming school year beginning September 2026.

This project is aimed at raising funds to provide essential school supplies for 150 destitute children across Liberia, ensuring they are fully prepared to begin the new academic year with dignity, confidence, and hope.

The support will cover key educational needs, including school uniforms, backpacks, shoes, notebooks, and other essential learning materials, helping to remove barriers that often prevent vulnerable children from accessing education.

This initiative is more than the distribution of supplies; it is an investment in the future of children who deserve the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed.

We believe this effort will make a meaningful difference in the lives of these 150 children, giving them a strong foundation for a successful school year and a brighter future.

We invite partners, supporters, and friends to join us in making this vision a reality ahead of September 2026.

Day of the African Child 2026

Today, as we commemorate the Day of the African Child, Hope for Destitute Kids Liberia stands in solidarity with millions of children across Africa, especially those facing poverty, neglect, and limited access to opportunities.

Every child deserves a chance to learn, to be protected, to be heard, and to grow in a safe and loving environment. Yet, many children continue to face challenges that threaten their future and well-being.

On this important day, we renew our commitment to advocating for the rights of vulnerable children and providing hope, care, and support to those who need it most. We believe that when we invest in children, we invest in stronger families, healthier communities, and a brighter future for our nation.

Let us all play a part in creating a world where every child can dream, thrive, and reach their full potential.

Together, we can make a difference—one child at a time.

Happy Day of the African Child!

Today is World Menstrual Hygiene Day.

With the global theme Together for a period‑friendly world and Liberia’s national theme Breaking barriers, ending stigma and ensuring safe menstrual health in Liberia, Hope for Destitute Kids Liberia renews our commitment to dignity, education, and safety for every girl.
Periods should never stop a child from learning, playing, or feeling safe. Yet stigma, lack of supplies, and poor sanitation still force too many girls to miss school or hide in shame.
Our actions:
Distributing menstrual kits (reusable and disposable pads, soap, underwear) to girls in need.
Teaching menstrual health to girls, boys, parents, and teachers to challenge myths and change attitudes.
Improving school WASH facilities and supporting safe disposal options.
Partnering with community leaders to push for stronger policies and local investment.
You can make a difference:
Donate funds or menstrual kits to support our outreach.
Volunteer for school visits and community workshops.

Share this post to help normalize conversations about periods and demand better services.
Join us in turning global solidarity, Together for a period‑friendly world, and our national call to break barriers and end stigma into real impact across Liberia. When girls can manage their periods with dignity, they can stay in school and shape their future.

Honoring Unity on National Unification Day! 🇱🇷❤️

Dear friends, partners, and family of Hope for Destitute Kids Liberia,
Today, May 14th, we pause to celebrate National Unification Day, a sacred reminder of Liberia's unbreakable spirit. On this day in 1960, our nation took a bold step toward healing divisions, fostering peace, and weaving our diverse tribes into one resilient family. From the lessons of our past, we draw strength to build a brighter future, especially for the destitute children we serve – orphans, street kids, and vulnerable young ones who deserve the warmth of unity and hope.
At Hope for Destitute Kids Liberia, we witness daily how unity transforms lives: a shared meal brings smiles to hungry faces, community hands lift broken spirits, and collective love mends the deepest wounds. In a world that sometimes divides, let us unite for our children – because every child united in care is a nation forever strong.

Join us in this celebration! Comment below: What does unification mean to you? Share your story or what you know about this historic day. Your words inspire us all!

Together, we rise.
