To commemorate World Biodiversity Day 2026 under the global theme “Acting Locally for Global Impact” Green Growth Liberia joins the rest of the world to raise awareness on biodiversity conservation and sustainable environmental practices, promote active participation of youth, students, and community members in environmental protection, encourage community ownership of biodiversity conservation and climate justice initiatives, and enhance knowledge and engagement through interactive learning activities.

Through the Legal Empowerment Fund, in collaboration with the Children and Youth Rights Program at the Fund for Global Human Rights, Green Growth Liberia has launched an exciting initiative to enhance youth-led climate justice efforts across select African nations.

In this light, Green Growth Liberia held a three-day Community Engagement and Awareness event in the Kpatawee Clan, aimed at community members to foster educational initiatives centered on environmental and climate justice.

The engagement also served to inform and update local communities about the initiatives of Green Growth Liberia (GGL), while promoting shared responsibility for environmental stewardship and motivating a new generation of climate champions within rural communities.

We successfully built the capacity of teachers from 5 schools in the Kpatawee Clan, B**g County, on October 24th and 25th, 2025.

The objectives were to establish nature clubs in high schools to foster environmental awareness, climate justice education, and practical conservation actions.

More than 100 students have been selected to form the clubs.

Thanks to the Empowerment Fund in collaboration with the Children and Youth Rights Program at the Fund for Global Human Rights.

Thanks to the team and facilitators for a well done job.
