The International Day of a African Child has been celebrated every year since 1991, when it was first initiated by the OAU organization of African Unity. It honors those who participated in the Soweto Uprising in 1976, on that day. It raises awareness of the continuing need for improvement for the education provided to African children.

In Soweto, South African, on the 16, 1976, about ten thousand back school children marched in a column more then half a mile long, protesting poor quality of their education demanding their right to taught in their own language. Hundred of yound students were shot, the most famous of which being HECTOR PIETERSON sadly, more then a hundred people where killed in the protests of the following two weeks, and more then a thousand where injured.
Theme for this year International Day Of the African Child 2023
"THE RIGHT OF THE CHILD IN THE DIGITAL ENVIRONMENT"

HAPPY INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE AFRICAN CHILD, TO ALL AFRICAN AROUND THE WORLD.
