Born to a teenage mother in a rural village, Mary’s early childhood was defined by hardship. As a baby, she was brought to Monrovia by her grandmother. Growing up, Mary had never seen a classroom. Instead of preparing for school each morning, she went from house to house washing dishes in exchange for food. Education was not a dream within reach , survival was.

Everything changed when Girls for Better Society - GBS encountered Mary and made a commitment to support her education. GBS enrolled her in a private school beginning in kindergarten (K1), provided a private tutor at school, and ensured she received additional academic support at home. Through consistent financial and moral support, Mary was given not just access to education, but the tools to excel.

Today, Mary has been promoted from 4th to 5th grade in recognition of her outstanding academic performance across the first, second, and third periods. Her journey reflects what is possible when determination meets opportunity.

We invite you to become a sponsor in transforming the lives of underprivileged girls like Mary. Your financial contribution whether large or small will directly support access to quality education, mentorship, learning materials, and the encouragement these girls need to thrive.

Remember Bainda is one of the beneficiaries of Girls for Better Society - GBS. In the first academic period this year, she achieved an impressive 87% average a remarkable milestone for a child who is only in her second year of formal schooling.

Before joining GBS, Remember had never experienced a classroom environment. She was relocated from Gbartala, B**g County, to Monrovia, where GBS enrolled her in school and provided full educational support.

Her first year was challenging. Despite having an extra tutor, school supplies, and consistent care, Remember struggled academically. Recognizing that something deeper was affecting her performance, GBS took the time to sit with her and understand her fears and challenges.

With honesty and courage, Remember explained that she often did not understand her teacher, especially during exams. She described how the teacher spoke “big, big English,” making it difficult for her to follow instructions particularly when exam questions were being read.

GBS immediately intervened by meeting with the teacher, explaining Remember’s background, and requesting that she be given special consideration. The teacher responded with compassion and began explaining exam instructions more clearly and patiently.

The results have been extraordinary. This academic year, Remember was placed first in her class and Second in the entire school. Her growth is a powerful reminder that every child can succeed when given understanding, patience, and opportunity. Because of Remember’s outstanding academic performance, GBS is considering transferring her to a private school next academic year to further nurture her potential.

We are calling on kind-hearted individuals and humanitarians for financial support. Your contribution will help Remember and other less-privileged girls access quality education, build confidence, and grow into future leaders.

Together, we can turn challenges into success stories.

Meet Scholar Stanlineta Davis, a Grade 2 student of Mount Zion Christian Academy Annex 1, who emerged as the DUX of the entire school for the 1st Period of the 2025/2026 academic year with an outstanding average score of 95%.

Stanlineta’s journey mirrors the stories of many of our beneficiaries at Girls for Better Society - GBS. Her mother, who struggles daily to provide even the basics, feared that Stanlineta would eventually drop out of school due to the inability to pay her fees. Despite Stanlineta’s remarkable academic performance, the financial burden of her tuition fees weighed heavily on her mother.

When GBS stepped in to cover Stanlineta’s tuition, her mother was overwhelmed with gratitude. She could not stop praying, blessing, and expressing heartfelt appreciation for the lifeline GBS extended to her daughter. Today, Stanlineta stands as a shining example of what opportunity, support, and hope can achieve.

A special thank you to our sponsors whose timely support continues to make stories like Stanlineta’s possible. Your contributions are changing lives, restoring hope, and keeping brilliant young girls in school.

Meet Scholar Silver Freeman from the New Testament Baptist School System, 12grade. Silver's story is similar to that of our other beneficiaries. She has faced financial challenges, but despite these difficulties, Silver excelled academically and was named the dux of her 11th-grade class last academic year.

Today, Girls for Better Society - GBS has covered Silver's full tuition fees, allowing her and her parents to worry less about the financial burden of her education for this academic year. GBS believes that no child should be left behind in their pursuit of education, regardless of their parents' financial struggles, background, religion, culture, or race. Education is fundamental to growth and development, and we must unite to support this cause for the common good.

Girls for Better Society wishes Silver all the best in her academic journey.
