INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY 2022 MESSAGE
OFFICE OF THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
YOUTH INSPIRING VOICES
Today is International Women's Day, and on this day, like many others, we would like to emphasize the need for women and girls empowerment, and to highlight some of the many injustices women and girls face around the globe.
Women and girls rights are definitely human rights. But as our world becomes more unstable and disorganized, the rights of women and girls are being reduced and restricted at a larger scale.
Ensuring that women and girls are empowered is unquestionably the best way to protect their rights.
Gender imbalances in areas of leadership, aggravated by growing inequalities within societies, have led to greater discrimination against women and girls. Globally, traditional beliefs, cultural values, and religion are being misused to limit women's rights and defend violence against women and girls. Women are routinely targeted for intimidation and harassment, and their rights over their own bodies are questioned and undermined, evidenced by the practice of force marriages and other forms of SGBVs.
All of these injustices can be curtailed only by empowering women at all levels, enabling their voices to be heard and giving them control over their own lives.
As we Celebrate this day, let us all pledge to work at curtailing this growing threat, and do everything humanly possible to promote gender equality and women's empowerment.
Happy International Women's Day to all of our beautiful and hardworking ladies!😊
