A Foundation of Resilience !
The story of Chairman Dennis Kindness Walker is a testament to the power of humble beginnings. Upon graduating from Sinoe Multilateral High School as the second-highest performing student (Dux) of the 2010-2011 class, Dennis faced a daunting reality: he had no immediate means to further his education.
Rather than succumbing to despair, he looked for work. In 2012, he sought a role as an aide for the Liberia Seaport Police (LSP) at the Samuel Alfred Ross Port of Greenville. For nearly a year, he worked diligently, hoping for a formal recruitment opening. His patience paid off in May 2013; after a rigorous interview and three weeks of intensive training, he was officially contracted as an LSP officer.
Even while securing the port, Dennis felt a calling to keep his academic mind sharp. In late 2013, he applied for a teaching position at the Harrison Williams Grigsby Memorial High School.
Thankfully, the vetting committee was impressed, and he was assigned to the Kindergarten level. Starting with a modest salary of LRD 3,000, his contract included a performance-based growth plan. For six years, Dennis shaped young minds, proving that no task was too small for someone with a large vision.
By 2020, Dennis’s commitment to community service transitioned into political activism. He began attending meetings for the National Patriotic Party (NPP), where his dedication led to his election as Chairman of the National Patriotic Youth Council - Sinoe Chapter.
His leadership didn't go unnoticed. During the District Two by-election, he was appointed Secretary of the Primary Committee for the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC). Under his supervision, the primary saw Hon. Samson Wiah emerge as the consensus candidate.
The December 8, 2020, by-election was a defining moment. As Youth Chairman, Dennis led a grassroots awareness campaign, highlighting Hon. Wiah’s achievements. The election was a nail-biter, with Hon. Wiah winning by a narrow margin of just 29 votes.
The results were challenged, leading to a three-month legal battle that reached the Supreme Court. Throughout the dispute, Dennis stood as a crucial witness and poll watcher, defending the integrity of the vote. Ultimately, justice prevailed, and Hon. Wiah was declared the legitimate winner.
A Promise Kept till Graduation!
Recognizing Dennis’s unwavering loyalty and untapped potential, Hon. Wiah made a life-changing vow, that he would sponsor Dennis’s university education.
However, in February 2021, Dennis sat for the United Methodist University (UMU) entrance exam. In May 2021, he officially enrolled at one of the prestigious Universities, UMU as a university student. He balanced his responsibilities with the same discipline he once used to guard the seaport and teach in the classroom.
Today, that journey reaches a milestone. This year March, with the support of the lawmaker, Chairman Dennis Kindness Walker will walk across the stage at the United Methodist University. He isn't just receiving a degree; he is proving that with faith, hard work, and loyalty, a humble beginning can lead to a triumphant horizon.
We are thrilled and proud of his commitment and dedication to reach this great academic feat.
Congratulations, our able Chairman of the Quejue Wiah Scholarship Scheme for job well done 👏👏
