CYI is a Community Based Organization that aims primarily at creating awareness about any outbreak within the Country and as well as promoting and sustaining the Peace. It is a group of Young people that came into existence after the first 10 persons died from Ebola Virus during the outbreak within Liberia. The woman who contracted EVD from Guinea and later came to Liberia in Lofa, and the first
group of persons that she came in contact with including a doctor who treated her and the first three nurses who were trying to safe their boss, they all got infested. After hearing this on the radio, and everyone were terrified, we decided to get involve, because the one means by staying safe at the time was to remain open and accepting the fact that in deed there is an outbreak of a disease virus named " Ebola" and it does exist in Liberia which was hard for many persons to believe and that took away hundreds of lives today. We came together as young people to promo-gate the message about Ebola Virus, how it is spared from one person to another through a bodily-fluid or animals. Today our Community has been one community that continues to remain focus and cautioned in following the healthy tips and by the special Grace of God. The messages from the Health Ministry and other partners concerned Youth Initiative Liberia decided to champion the cost to continue to pass on the messages as well as cleaning the various corners of its communities. It was believed that this virus is hidden in colder places and also on a living organism, because of this, our activities also involve weekly cleaning up campaign (Mondays Wednesdays and Saturdays) at the same time some of our groups are passing the messages out to dwellers and passerby. Today, we are grateful to God for an active work force since the month of the outbreak months. After, the Ebola, now we are promo-gating the strategy of post EVD mechanism how to prevent and cor til this virus from entering our country. Also we are now into youth advocacy where in we believe all human are equal in the eyes of God and as such every young old person must be given the opportunity of Education. We also believe where one's right stop is where another man's right begin, therefore we are not engaging into promoting Civic Education in sustaining the peace we no enjoy which is a constitution right for all men.
