Founded in 2020, CYCLES is a youth-led nonprofit empowering youth and women through advocacy, activism, and economic empowerment.

We bridge the gap between young people and power structures to drive social, climate, and environmental justice. CYCLES-is a non governmental and civil society organization that works with, local communities, youth organizations, students groups to foster civic engagement and education, leadership and capacity development, policy research on Climate change and the Environment. Through our programs young people are trained to become active citizens, they develop an active voice to speak on critical issues that are important to their wellbeing, and find the appropriate spaces to engage for social transformation.

Funded by ActionAid Liberia under the SPA II Project, the Youth Green Jobs and Circular Economy Training organized by the Center for Youth Civic Leadership and Environmental Studies empowered young champions across both agroecology and waste management tracks. Through restorative farming models and hands-on practical experience at the Ever Green Recycling Plant, participants designed youth-led green enterprises to eliminate linear "take-make-waste" practices, strengthen community resilience, and unlock sustainable value-chain opportunities.

The Center For Youth Civic Leadership and Enviromental Studies(CYCLES) hosted the National People's Climate Justice Summit: Documentation of Learning Engagement Dialogue under the SPA 2 Project, with funding support from ActionAid. The Dialogue took place at the YMCA Youth Power Space on Crown Hill Broad Street, in Monrovia.

This critical convening brought together a diverse coalition of stakeholders, including government representatives, civil society organizations, youth groups, student networks, and local communities.

At the heart of the dialogue was the National People's Climate Justice Summit Communiqué, which anchored discussions around key themes such as a just transition, scaling agroecology, expanding clean energy access, and accelerating people-driven climate finance. Participants engaged in rigorous learning sessions and high-level policy exchanges addressing pressing national climate change challenges such as food insecurity, environmental degradation, and unequal resource access that disproportionately affect frontline communities, particularly women and youth.

The consensus strongly emphasized shifting away from extractive models toward community-led, sustainable development strategies that protect ecosystems while strengthening local economic resilience.
During the sessions, attendees highlighted local innovations by mapping and compiling grassroots success stories, focusing particularly on youth and women-led initiatives in agroecology, organic farming, circular economies, and localized clean energy adaptation. They also proposed actionable recommendations to track the direct implementation status of core mandates outlined in the Communiqué across government line ministries and civil society networks. Furthermore, these recommendations addressed recurring institutional, operational, and financial blockages, such as delayed budget rollouts, legislative changes, and inclusion gaps that hinder a just transition.

Ultimately, the gathering served as a vital co-creation space, successfully developing a forward-looking action roadmap for policy tracking to guide ongoing civil society mobilization around Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) milestones.

The gathering brought together local stakeholders, community beneficiaries, and key partners to evaluate the programmatic impact of the Strategic Partnership Agreement (SPA II) project.
During the interactive sessions, attendees highlighted the transformative results achieved by CYCLES across Montserrado County throughout the project's lifecycle.

Participants strongly endorsed the outcomes and expressed a shared commitment to sustaining these key achievements moving forward. The Center For Youth Civic Leadership and Enviromental Studies conducted its second County-Level Project Stakeholders' Exit Meeting at the Gbarnga Youth Center in Gbarnga City, B**g County.

Bringing together local stakeholders, project beneficiaries, representatives from local authories including the Gbarnga City Corporation, and the Federation of Liberian Youth (FLY), the gathering served as a vital platform to review the impact of the Strategic Partnership Agreement (SPA II) project.

The core objective of the meeting is to bridge project learning with sustainable national policy pathways through targeted policy briefs and the validation of a joint civil society sustainability roadmap. The outcomes and recommendations generated during the meeting will ensure that vital community-level demands remain actionable long after the project's official conclusion.

The Center for Youth Civic Leadership and Environmental Studies has officially concluded its Strategic Partnership Agreement (SPA II) county-level stakeholder exit meeting in Bopolu City, Gbarpolu County. The gathering successfully brought together local authorities, partner organizations, and key community groups including the Young Farmers Network, the Stewards group, Eco Clubs, and Green Jobs Skills Training beneficiaries to mark a vital milestone in transitioning project learning into sustainable national policy pathways.

During the meeting, participants focused heavily on institutionalizing the outcomes of SPA II project by presenting targeted policy briefs and validating a joint civil society sustainability roadmap. This process is designed to secure long-term commitments from both state and non-state actors, ensuring that key achievements remain actionable long after the project's official lifespan.

Attendees also reflected deeply on the transformative impact of the initiative across four major green sectors: waste management and recycling, agroecology, renewable energy, and sanitation. Local partners, city council representatives, and project beneficiaries shared personal accounts of how the workshops, hands-on training sessions, and community activities fundamentally shifted local perspectives on sustainable practices.

The Center for Youth Civic Leadership and Environmental Studies (CYCLES) has launched the Youth Green Jobs and Circular Economy Mapping Initiative across Gbarpolu, B**g, and Montserrado Counties. Executed under the SPA 2 Project, this program is supported by ActionAid.

Through a multi-sectoral assessment, we are identifying, cataloging, and analyzing active and potential green jobs, circular economy enterprises, raw material supply streams, and capacity-building institutions. The resulting data will form an open-access blueprint, aligning local human capital with Liberia’s national climate objectives in waste management, renewable energy, and agroecology.

Driven by our Youth Leading Youth (YLY) approach, trained young data collectors and enumerators are deployed across target communities to build a data-driven baseline of Liberia’s green economy. This baseline will guide evidence-based policy, modernized TVET curricula, private-sector capital alignment, and targeted youth-led enterprise development.

By mapping green infrastructure, business clusters, and vocational capabilities, CYCLES is creating a data framework that lowers market risk, integrates local supply chains, and advances the Liberia National Youth Policy..

As part of the Youth-Led Green Jobs and Circular Economy Mapping Project, our Monitoring and Evaluation Officer Augustus B. Brown Jr. and Intern Christine Yassah Brown conducted joint field visits to municipal authorities to expand the project's Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) and Community-Based Enterprise (CBE) database. The team engaged with key municipal entities to inquire about essential operational data. Through these visits, the team successfully secured comprehensive information on active local sector actors to finalize our data collection roster.
