(Qur'an 17:23)
Your Lord has commanded that you worship none but Him, and that you be good to your parents. If either of them or both of them reach old age with you, do not say to them a word of DISRESPECT, nor SCOLD them, but say to them kind words.
In Islam, we are told to pray to or worship only Allah (God). But after Allah, respecting and obeying our parents are paramount. The Quran commands kindness and obedience from us to them. Children should honor parents by obeying them, helping them in household chores, and showing appreciation/gratitude. This fosters strong family ties, earns Allah's pleasure, and brings blessings to we, the children's lives. Respecting our parents is a much needed approach that involves listening, appreciating their sacrifices, and practicing patience and empathy. By adopting these practices, we can build stronger and more meaningful relationships with our parents. This respect not only honors the sacrifices and wisdom of our parents but also contributes to our personal growth and development as children. In this world, recognizing and valuing the contributions of our parents can lead to a more balanced and fulfilling life for us. By showing respect, we are not only paying homage to those who have shaped us but also pave the way for our future that's built on mutual understanding and love.
May the Almighty Allah grant us the good understanding and guide us to righteousness? Ameen
