Message from the Liberia Anti - Money Laundering Civil Society Network (LAMCSN) as We Welcome 2026
The secretariat and Steering Committee Members of the Liberia Anti - Money Laundering Civil Society Network (LAMCSN), esteemed partners, and policymakers, fellow citizens,
As we stand on the threshold of 2026, our hearts are filled with mixed emotions. The year 2025 was an undeniably challenging period for our institution. We faced a whirlwind of obstacles, from limited resources to complex regulatory landscapes, all while trying to uphold the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing. However, we did not let these difficulties shatter our spirit. Instead, we looked adversity in the eye, learned invaluable lessons, and strengthened our resolve to make a difference.
In 2025, we witnessed firsthand the detrimental impact of money laundering on our society. These illicit activities not only undermine the stability of our financial systems but also have far - reaching consequences for economic development, security, and the well - being of our fellow Liberians. They siphon off resources meant for public services, erode trust in financial institutions, and fuel criminal enterprises that thrive on chaos and instability.
Despite the hardship, we made significant strides. Our team worked tirelessly, often against the odds, to conduct research, raise awareness, and advocate for policies that would enhance our ability to combat these crimes. We engaged in several initiatives that, while perhaps not as far - reaching as we had hoped, helped to plant the seeds of change in various communities across Liberia.
But as we leave the trials of 2025 behind, we look forward to 2026 with unwavering hope and optimism. This new year presents a blank canvas, and we are the artists ready to paint a picture of a more just and secure future. Our focus in 2026 will be centered on three key areas: creating awareness, fostering dialogues, and positive engagement.
Creating Awareness.....
In 2026, we aim to intensify our awareness - raising campaigns. We understand that knowledge is power, and by educating the public, we can create a more informed and vigilant society. We will use various platforms, including social media, radio platforms, community forums, and educational institutions, to spread the message about the dangers of money laundering and terrorist financing. Our goal is to reach every corner of Liberia, from the bustling markets of Monrovia to the remote villages in the interior. Through these initiatives, we hope to empower individuals to recognize and report suspicious financial activities, making them an integral part of our fight.
Fostering Dialogues....
Dialogue is essential in any fight against crime. In 2026, we will host a series of seminars, workshops, and conferences that bring together stakeholders from different sectors. We want to create spaces where experts, policymakers, financial institutions, and civil society can exchange ideas, share best practices, and discuss emerging trends in anti - money laundering and counter - terrorist financing. These dialogues will not only help us to develop more effective strategies but also build stronger partnerships based on mutual understanding and cooperation.
Positive Engagement.....
We believe that positive engagement with partners and policymakers is crucial for achieving our goals. In 2026, we will actively seek to collaborate with government agencies, international organizations, and financial regulatory bodies. By working together, we can leverage our collective resources, expertise, and influence to drive systemic change. We will also engage directly with policymakers to advocate for the implementation of robust laws and regulations that are effective in preventing, detecting, and prosecuting money laundering and terrorist financing.
As we embark on this new journey in 2026, I am confident that with our collective efforts, passion, and commitment, we can make a significant impact. Let us remember why we joined this fight in the first place: to build a Liberia that is free from the scourge of money laundering and terrorist financing. Let us draw strength from the challenges of 2025 and use them as stepping stones to greater success in 2026.
Here's to a fruitful and impactful 2026! May this year be filled with achievements, partnerships, and positive change for LAMCSN and for the people of Liberia.
