On August 29, 2025, Liberia made history by becoming the third country in West Africa and the fifth in Africa to launch a National Action Plan (NAP) on Youth, Peace, and Security (YPS). This milestone reflects the tireless efforts of young people, civil society, and partners who have worked hand in hand to ensure that the voices of youth are at the center of peacebuilding and decision-making.

At Peace Agents Network - PAN, we are proud to have been deeply engaged in this transformative journey. As a member of the United Network of Young Peacebuilders and Liberia Coalition on YPS, PAN played a leading role in shaping Liberia’s YPS process, from grassroots consultations to policy advocacy. In 2024, we co-hosted Liberia’s first Annual Youth Peace and Security Forum, which created a national platform for young people to engage with policymakers, share their experiences, and define priorities for the NAP.

The launch of this NAP is not just a policy win, it is a commitment to action. It is a call to invest in youth leadership, intergenerational partnerships, and inclusive peace processes. PAN remains committed to advancing the implementation of the NAP, amplifying youth voices, and ensuring that young people are not just beneficiaries but key architects of peace and security in Liberia and beyond.

Together, we are proving that when youth lead, peace is possible.

🌍 Peace Agents Network (PAN) at the West & Central Africa Youth4Peace Forum in Accra, Ghana 🇬🇭

As a proud member organization of the United Network of Young Peacebuilders, Peace Agents Network (PAN) was honored to participate in the West and Central Africa Youth4Peace Forum: Leading National Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) Implementation, held last week in Accra, Ghana.

PAN was ably represented by Abdullah O Bility, who joined other passionate youth peacebuilders, policymakers, and partners from across the region to discuss progress, share strategies, and strengthen collaboration around the effective implementation of National Action Plans on Youth, Peace and Security (YPS).

The forum served as a vital platform for elevating youth voices, exchanging best practices, and accelerating national and regional efforts to meaningfully engage young people in peacebuilding processes. PAN shared its experiences from Liberia, particularly its role in co-convening the Annual YPS Forum, involvement in national consultations and championing inclusive youth engagement in the development of Liberia's YPS agenda.

We extend our gratitude to UNOY Peacebuilders, and all partners who made this forum a success. PAN remains committed to advancing the YPS agenda, amplifying the voices of young peacebuilders, and fostering a peaceful, inclusive, and resilient West and Central Africa.
