Press Release:

African Youth Peer Review Committee Condemns Concession Sponsored Violence and Rejects Derogatory Allegations or Liabilities

The African Youth Peer Review Committee strongly condemns any act of violence within the Bea Mountain Mining Company concession areas. We reject all allegations of liability made against our organization, including those directed at Mr. Sando Wayne, an eminent citizen of Cape Mount. Additionally, Mr. Wayne is not a member of this organization, contrary to the erroneous claim made in a purported letter from BMMC. We believe that if the BMMC was willing to develop a corporate citizenship culture and were in compliance with agreements for its investments, it should never have to run the risk of losing millions in doing business.

We encourage BMMC to spend its time learning to comply with agreements and the laws of the countries of its operation, rather than witch-hunting responsible citizens for its woes.

We are dedicated to peace, environmental justice, and transparency in all our engagements, and we stand firm in upholding and defending these values.

We call on the Liberian government to promptly conduct a thorough investigation into the recent conflict in Liberia that claimed the lives of three innocent citizens and to take the necessary actions to bring those responsible to justice.

Furthermore, we urge for the immediate withdrawal of the state’s armed forces from the affected areas to prevent any recurrence of violence. It is essential to prioritize dialogue, cooperation, and conflict resolution methods to ensure the safety and well-being of all individuals in the community of your operations.

The African Youth Peer Review Committee remains committed to promoting peace and unity in the region and will work tirelessly to support initiatives that foster harmony and understanding among all stakeholders.

We call upon all parties involved to come together in a spirit of collaboration and mutual respect to address these challenging circumstances and pave the way for a peaceful and prosperous future for all.

Upcoming Program:

The African Youth Peer Review Committee (AYPRC), together with her partners are developing a youth environment parliament for African youths. This parliament will bring together young people from across Africa to discuss policy issues related to environment and climate change, and to provide space for innovative and action oriented environment and climate change solutions.

We call upon young people from Africa to brace themselves for this coming engagement as it will form an important part of youth voices that will reach up to the UNFCCC UN United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) and other important stakeholders in the discourse of climate change.

For Immediate Release
African Youth Peer Review Committee (AYPRC) Urges Immediate Release of Former Chief Justice of the Republic of Liberia (Cllr. Gloria Musu Scott): Upholding the principles of Justice, Fairness, and Due process.

African Youth Peer Review Committee (AYPRC) is a mutually agreed instrument, voluntarily signed to by young African as a self-monitoring organization established by African youths to contribute to the development of Africa through advocacy, constructive dialogue, monitoring, participation and leadership in development initiatives as characterized by the AYPRC’s obligation. AYPRC issues this press release to address the urgent matter of the continued detention of the former Chief Justice and to emphasize the importance of upholding the principles of justice, fairness, and due process.

AYPRC strongly believes in the principles of human rights, democratic governance, and the rule of law. We are deeply concerned by any actions that undermine these fundamental values and call for the immediate release of Justice Gloria Scott.
The detention of a government official, especially a high-ranking individual responsible for upholding justice and ensuring the fair application of the law, raises serious concerns about the state of democracy, respect for human rights, and the rule of law in the country.

AYPRC strongly call on President George Weah government to respect the principles of due process, transparency, and accountability in this matter. It is crucial that the detained Justice Scott be provided with a fair and impartial trail, access to legal representation, and the opportunity to resent a robust defense. Upholding the resumption of innocence until proven guilty is essential.

We call upon the relevant authorities to engage in open dialogue and meaningful consultations with all stakeholders, including legal experts, civil society organizations, and international partners. Constructive engagement and transparency are essential to rebuilding trust, addressing concerns, and ensuring that justice is served.

AYPRC firmly against any actions that suppress that rights and freedoms of individuals and hinder the functioning of democratic institutions. We advocate for the immediate release of the Justice Scott and the restoration of the rule of law in order to safeguard the principles that form the bedrock of a just and democratic society.

As an organization dedicated to the ethical and promoting human rights, fostering transparency, and supporting democratic values. We will continue to closely monitor this situation and encourage all parties involved to seek a peaceful resolution that upholds justice, fairness, and the rights of all individuals.
