Men of Servants of All Prayer Assembly (SOAP) Condemn Violence Against Women and Children
The Men of Servants of All Prayer Assembly (SOAP) have taken serious notice of the recent wave of sexual abuse, domestic violence, and other forms of violence being perpetrated against women and children across Liberia.
In particular, our attention has been drawn to the disturbing incident reported on May 7, 2026, in which several young men allegedly assaulted and publicly undressed a young woman in the Red-Light business district. This shameful and inhumane act has shocked the conscience of many citizens and represents a dangerous trend of lawlessness and disrespect for human dignity.
SOAP leaders and members strongly condemn this act and all other forms of violence, abuse, and hooliganism in the strongest possible terms. Violence against women and children has no place in our society and must never be tolerated, excused, or ignored.
We therefore call on the Government of Liberia and all relevant security institutions to swiftly investigate this incident, identify all individuals responsible, and ensure that they are arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the laws of Liberia. Justice must be served, and decisive action must be taken to deter future acts of violence.
SOAP’s stance against all forms of violence in Liberia remains firm and unbending whether gender-based violence, sexual violence, domestic violence, or any other form of societal abuse and intimidation.
As men of faith and moral responsibility and an organization with extensive experience and track records in working with men and boys in ten of the fifteen counties of Liberia for more than a decade, we reaffirm our commitment to promoting peace, mutual coexistence, respect, accountability, and the protection of human dignity within our homes, communities, and nation.
