Young Mothers Initiative – Liberia (YMI) was born out of a desperate need to ensure that all mothers, especially young, adolescent mothers have access to essential resources for a successful pregnancy, birth and care of a child. Unfortunately, many of the adolescent mothers (ages 14 to 19) may not have adequate support from their families. To know that you have support and someone in your corner who can provide answers to your questions or help teach you how to best care for yourself and a child is a blessing. Joy and not fear should be her focus for a mother when her child enters the world. GOAL: Provide case management, advocacy, assistance and support to pregnant and parenting young mothers and their children in navigating the challenges of pregnancy and parenthood.
