This past National Examination in 2023/2024 was riddled with challenges.
How can we prevent such chaotic outcomes in the future?
Liberian students are not to blame, as their underperformance can be attributed to various factors:
1. Insufficiency of Competent Classroom Instructors
2. Paltry Remuneration for the limited number of qualified educators
3. Inadequate Allocation of Funds in the National Budget
4. Corruption - Educational funds often fall into the hands of avaricious politicians
5. Deficiency of Resources in numerous accredited Secondary Institutions in Liberia
6. Unstable Power Supply in Liberia, with Monrovia being an exception
7. Inconsistent Internet Connectivity for students
8. Absence of Effective Oversight and Assessment by District Education Officers and Chief Education Officers in their respective jurisdictions
9. Scarcity of Up-to-date Educational Materials in many High Schools
10. Influence of Peer Pressure as a contributing factor
As young individuals, it is imperative that we contribute innovative solutions to address these challenges.
The National Scholastic Club of Liberia (NASCOL) will be organizing its 2nd Cohort of the Pre WASSCE Tutorial Program this year, offering affordable rates. Stay tuned for further updates on the classes.
