The Liberia Council of Churches Youth Desk, through its Women Empowerment Committee, made history today with the successful launch of the Girl Read Project, under the inspiring theme: “Empowering the Next Generation of Female Leaders through Literacy”. Which took place at the Deasellia Christian Institute (CME), Peace Island, Congo Town, marking a significant milestone in the LCC Youth Desk’s commitment to promoting education and empowering young girls. This initiative, targeting girls from Grade 1 to 6, seeks to nurture confidence, leadership skills, and a passion for reading among the next generation.

The Women Empowerment Committee, led by its Chairperson, Madam Margaret C. Mulbah, demonstrated outstanding leadership and dedication in making this vision a reality. This achievement reflects a strong commitment to community transformation and the empowerment of young women. Also, in attendance was Executive Members of the Youth Desk.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Madam Mulbah and her entire team for this remarkable accomplishment. As we celebrate this success, we pray for continued growth, greater impact, and more transformative initiatives in the days ahead.

This is the LCC Youth Desk’s way of contributing to a brighter future because truly, the love of Christ compels us.

Officers and members of the LCC Youth Desk take this precious and joyous moment to extend our heartfelt congratulations to two distinguished Senior Members of our Board and past leaders of this esteemed institution who are graduating today from the state-run University of Liberia.

We proudly celebrate Mr. Abraham P. Johnson, former Chairperson of the LCC Youth Desk, who will be awarded a Master of Arts Degree in Education. His unwavering commitment to youth empowerment, ecumenical leadership, and academic excellence continues to inspire us all.

We also honour Mrs. Rebecca A. Tarpeh Major, Senior Advisor to the Youth Desk, who will be graduating with a Master of Arts Degree in International Relations. Her wisdom, guidance, and dedication to fostering peace, dialogue, and global engagement have greatly strengthened the vision and mission of the Youth Desk.

We are deeply excited about this remarkable milestone in their lives. Their achievements reflect not only personal perseverance and academic discipline but also their passion for service to the Church and society. As a youth movement committed to leadership development and nation-building, we celebrate this moment as a testimony that hard work, faith, and commitment truly bear fruit.

We wish our Senior Leaders God’s continued favour and abundant success in all their future endeavours. May the knowledge and skills they have acquired further equip them to serve the Church, the nation, and the global community with excellence and integrity.

This is indeed the Lord’s doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes (Psalm 118:23). Let us therefore join together in celebrating our own, giving thanks to God for His faithfulness and for raising visionary leaders within our ranks.
