Count Her In (CHI) honored an invitation to the International Symposium on Gender-Based Violence: Multidisciplinary Approaches, hosted by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM).

The symposium brought together researchers, academics, practitioners and advocates from different parts of the world to examine gender-based violence through diverse perspectives, including digital violence, feminist activism, intersectionality, transfeminicide, media representation, structural inequalities, and community and institutional responses.

For Count Her In, spaces like this are important because ending violence against women and girls requires more than awareness. It requires evidence, education, meaningful participation, stronger systems of protection, and the leadership of women and girls themselves.

Our participation reflects CHI’s continued commitment to learning from global experiences, strengthening our advocacy, and bringing knowledge and innovative approaches back to the communities we serve.

We believe that every girl and young woman deserves to live with dignity, safety, equality and the freedom to shape her own future.

When women and girls are counted in, communities become stronger — and change becomes possible.

Her Future: Building Women’s Leadership for Climate Action

On 25 September 2026, Count Her In brought its Women Climate Ambassador Training to a close with an intensive online session focused on women’s role in climate action. The session was facilitated by Varsha Ramharrack, an experienced HSE and sustainability leader, energy-transition strategist, and certified climate professional committed to advancing climate action, sustainable energy, and youth empowerment.

Participants explored why women’s leadership matters in responding to climate challenges and how women and girls can contribute to climate solutions in their communities. The session created an opportunity to learn, reflect, and strengthen the knowledge and confidence needed to take part in climate action.

For Count Her In, this training is part of a wider commitment to support women and girls as informed advocates and active leaders. We believe their experiences, ideas, and leadership belong at the heart of conversations and decisions about a sustainable future.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Varsha Ramharrack for sharing her expertise, and to all the participants for their engagement throughout the training. Together, we continue to work toward a future where women and girls are equipped to speak up, lead, and help shape climate action. 💚
