District #8 Youth Council (DYC) Launches Free Digital Satellite Dish Installation Training Program

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 14, 2025

Monrovia, Liberia – The District #8 Youth Council (DYC), comprising youth leaders from all 22 communities within District #8, Montserrado County, has officially commenced its Free Digital Satellite Dish Installation Training Program aimed at empowering over 200 young people with vital technical skills.

The initiative, in partnership with OK-YAH Digital Satellite Training Program, officially kicked off with a successful orientation held on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at the CDB King School, located at the intersection of Warrant and Benson Streets in Central Monrovia.

At the launch event, nearly 50 selected participants—out of the 200 targeted beneficiaries—attended the first session of what is expected to be a two-to-three month hands-on training project. The program is designed to run every Saturday, focusing on practical, job-ready skills in satellite dish installation.

DYC emphasizes that this project is an independent, community-led effort, solely organized and implemented by the District #8 Youth Council, free from any political or external financial involvement. The initiative is part of DYC’s broader mandate to design and deliver youth-centered development programs that directly impact the lives of young residents.

“This program represents our commitment to providing meaningful opportunities for our young people,” said Zac T. Sherman, District #8 Youth Coordinator and lead initiator of the training. “We are proud to see our community leadership taking charge to create change and build capacity from within.”

DYC extends deep gratitude to all community youth chairpersons who effectively facilitated the beneficiary selection process, ensuring transparency and inclusivity across their respective communities. The Council also conveys special appreciation to the Monrovia Consolidated School System (MCSS) for granting access to its facility as the venue for this transformative project.

The District #8 Youth Council remains committed to empowering the next generation with skills that drive self-reliance and open pathways to employment and entrepreneurship.
Together, we are investing in the future of our youth.
