A Statement from the Pan-African Youth Leadership Program Alumni, Liberia.
Monrovia, Liberia – August 7, 2025 — The Pan-African Youth Leadership Program (PAYLP) Alumni, Liberia Chapter, commends the organizers of yesterday's march and the many courageous Liberians who stood in solidarity to say NO TO DRUGS. This powerful display of unity sends a clear message that our nation is ready to fight for its future.
We also applaud President Joseph Nyuma Boakai for his decisive leadership in announcing the National Anti-Drug Action Plan. The President’s recognition of this crisis as an "attack on our future" is a crucial step towards healing our communities and protecting our youth.
As an alumni association dedicated to servant leadership, we understand that this fight will be won on the ground, in our neighborhoods, and in our schools. While we may be a small group, our commitment is unwavering. We will continue to support this national effort by:
â—ŹMentoring Our Peers: We will intensify our peer-to-peer mentorship programs in high schools, providing a safe space for young people to make informed choices.
â—ŹBuilding Strong Communities: We will continue to organize community gatherings and clean-up activities to foster a sense of unity and shared responsibility.
â—Ź Educating for Change: We will collaborate with educators to ensure the anti-drug message is delivered effectively through youth-led initiatives like drama and storytelling.
For the future of Liberia, for our neighbor's son, and for the countless families crying out for help, we will not be silent. We will continue our work, confident that together, we will reclaim our generation from the scourge of drugs.
