Justice Demanded

Large scales of torture and massacres were committed against the innocent people of Liberia from 1979-2003, actions that are in direct violations of international human rights law, yet the victims, as well as, the nation has yet to see redress for these crimes. According to Liberia Truth and Reconciliation Commission, large scale massacres were recorded as follows:

Lofa = 32 Sites of Massacres, B**g = 8 Sites of Massacres, Rivercess = 30 Sites of Massacres, Grand Bassa = 8 Sites of Massacres, Nimba = 6 Sites of Massacres, Grand Cape Mount = 24 Sites of Massacres, Bomi = 12 Sites of Massacres, Gbarpolu = 22 Sites of Massacres, Montserrado = 8 Sites of Massacres, Margibi = 7 Sites of Massacres, Maryland = 11 Sites of Massacres, River Gee -7 Sites of Massacres, Grand Gedeh = 12 Sites of Massacres, Grand Kru = 9 Sites of Massacres, and Sinoe = 9 Sites of Massacres.

Against this back drop, SEWACCOL acknowledges the plight of victims and survivors as cause for concern, and has embarked on a quest for justice and accountability for war crimes in an attempt to bring the culture of impunity to an end in Liberia.
