The Evergreen Future Collective hosted a two day capacity building workshop in Ganta, Nimba County from 15 to 16 April under the Empower for Change Project funded by the The Fund for Global Human Rights.

Students from eco clubs across different schools came together to strengthen their knowledge of climate justice, creative advocacy, and storytelling.
The first day focused on agroecology, where students learned practical approaches to sustainable and organic farming, soil health, crop diversity, and working with nature to produce food while protecting the environment. The second day explored climate adaptation and mitigation, climate finance, and just transition.
It was a powerful space for learning, connection, and building young climate leaders

The Eco-club founded last year under the Empower for change project, carried out their first tree planting exercise in their school yard. Deforestation is the purposeful clearing/thinning of forests/trees, and this destroys biodiversity, accelerates climate change by releasing stored carbon dioxide, and disrupts water cycles, threatening both ecosystems and human life.
Reforestation is the natural/intentional process of replanting trees in areas where forest/trees cover has been lost or degraded, it addresses the negative impacts of deforestation, which currently accounts for 10–15% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Restoring these forests/trees is one of the most effective and affordable natural solutions for removing carbon from the atmosphere.
Every small action adds up, so we begin our first initiative of the year by planting trees under the Empower for change project funded by The Fund for Global Human Rights.

Standing with wetlands is standing for life itself.
From protecting our food systems to buffering our communities against floods and climate shocks, wetlands quietly do the work that keeps people and nature alive. Yet they remain among the most threatened ecosystems on Earth.
As an environmental advocate, I’ve seen how restoring wetlands restores hope reviving livelihoods, empowering women and youth, and safeguarding our future. Protecting wetlands isn’t charity; it’s justice for communities and responsibility to generations unborn.

Today, let’s move beyond awareness to action.
Protect wetlands. Restore balance. Defend our future.

On November 21, the Evergreen Future Collective Eco-Clubs organized a massive community cleanup in the LMCP area under the “Empower for change project” funded as The Fund for Global Human Rights. As part of the initiative, members conducted a door-to-door awareness campaign on plastic waste and its harmful impacts on the environment. During the exercise, they were honored by a visit from the Mayor of Ganta City, who commended them for their efforts, activism, and exemplary leadership among their peers in schools.

The Empower for Change Project funded by The Fund for Global Human Rights entered its second phase of implementation, marking another milestone in our journey toward climate justice and youth empowerment.
This phase focuses on mobilizing and empowering young students through the creation of eco-clubs in schools, nurturing the next generation of climate leaders.

The early part of August, we proudly established two vibrant eco-clubs in schools across Ganta City, Nimba County.
Now, these young changemakers are taking the lead—raising awareness about the climate crisis through school presentations, creating powerful content to inspire action, and organizing clean-up campaigns to restore their communities.

When young people are empowered, the entire community and society are transformed and through their passion, we are witnessing the rise of a generation ready to protect our planet and build a more sustainable future.
