Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated
The 2025 Alpha Awards, presented by the Eta Epsilon Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, honor exemplary leadership, dedicated service, and unwavering commitment to the Fraternity’s ideals of Outstanding Leadership, Stellar Service, Scholarship, and Advocacy. These distinguished honors celebrate individuals whose contributions have advanced the mission of Alpha Phi Alpha and positively impacted the Nation and the global community. Each awardee is commended for upholding the highest standards of excellence and for embodying the noble principles upon which Alpha Phi Alpha was founded.
AMBASSADOR GEORGE W. WALLACE JR.
Alpha Award of Honor
The Alpha Award of Honor, the highest civilian and public service award, is presented to Ambassador George W. Wallace Jr. in recognition of his distinguished career as one of Liberia’s most accomplished and enduring career diplomats, with over five decades of service to the state. He rose through the Foreign Service to serve as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, including postings as Head of Mission and Deputy Head of Mission in key diplomatic assignments.
At the national level, Ambassador Wallace served as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Administration, providing continuity during periods of transition, and later as Minister of Foreign Affairs (2006–2007), where he played a central role in re-establishing Liberia’s global partnerships in the post-conflict era. He also served for many years as Senior Ambassador-at-Large and Special Advisor to the President on Foreign Affairs, advising successive administrations.
Beyond formal office, he has been a trusted foreign policy advisor, mentor, and instructor at Liberia’s Foreign Service Institute. His career reflects institutional memory, quiet leadership, and unwavering service to Liberia.
T. NELSON WILLIAMS, II, ED
Alpha Award of Merit
The Alpha Award of Merit, the highest brotherhood award, is presented to Brother T. Nelson Williams, II in recognition of his outstanding leadership in advancing the ideals of Alpha Phi Alpha through servant leadership, youth development, and public advocacy in Liberia and throughout the International District. This honor further recognizes his 41 years of dedicated service to Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, and to the Nation. The award celebrates his steadfast commitment to excellence and his enduring inspiration for others to make a lasting impact on society.
Brother Williams serves as Executive Director of the International Association of Alpha Chapters (IAAC), supporting the work of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated in seven international countries. He previously served as Area Director for Alpha West Africa and President of Eta Epsilon Lambda Chapter, Liberia. During his tenure, the establishment of Alpha Ghana and Alpha UAE was realized, further expanding Alpha’s global footprint.
DR. PUCHU LEONA BERNARD
Alpha Lifetime Achievement Award
The Alpha Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to Dr. Puchu Leona Bernard in recognition of her extraordinary career of service in education, public administration, law, and national development. Her work reflects an uncompromising devotion to the advancement of humanity and to the ideals of scholarship, integrity, and selfless leadership.
As a public servant, Dr. Bernard implemented transformative civil service reforms, strengthened merit-based governance, and authored Liberia’s first Sexual Harassment Policy for public employees, establishing national standards for professionalism, dignity, and gender inclusion. The reform frameworks she helped design continue to underpin the operations of Liberia’s civil service today, impacting the lives and careers of more than 30,000 public-sector employees.
In recognition of her enduring contributions to national development and governance, Dr. Bernard was awarded the title of Knight Commander in the Humane Order of African Redemption, one of Liberia’s highest civilian honors. This distinction reflects a lifetime of principled service, nation-building, and an unwavering commitment to the public good.
DR. FRANK GLOVER
Alpha Lifetime Achievement Award
The Alpha Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to Brother Dr. Frank Glover in recognition of his extraordinary leadership and service as a Christian minister of the Gospel and as an outstanding surgeon. His career reflects a profound commitment to providing compassionate medical care to countless individuals and an unflinching devotion to Alpha Phi Alpha’s tenets of Manly Deeds, Scholarship, and Love for All Mankind.
Dr. Glover currently serves as Head of the Medical College Liberia Project, working to establish a medical college in Liberia with the goal of enabling the nation to produce its own physicians. He has emphasized that when all fifteen counties have resident doctors, national health outcomes will improve significantly through greater access to care.
During his training at Johns Hopkins University, Dr. Glover developed a deep commitment to medical missions, serving two months in Liberia and three months in Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of the Congo). He is presently collaborating with Liberia’s Ministry of Health to establish residency training programs in a nation of more than 4.1 million people with fewer than 200 doctors.
SHEIKH ALI KRAYEE
Alpha Leadership Award
The Alpha Leadership Award is presented to Imam Ali Krayee in recognition of his exemplary leadership and distinguished service as National Chief Imam of the Republic of Liberia. This honor celebrates his unwavering spiritual leadership, principled advocacy, and compassionate counseling, which have guided and inspired countless individuals across the nation and beyond.
Imam Ali Krayee is a respected Islamic scholar, educator, and peace advocate. In the early 1990s, he served as a legislative assistant before pursuing advanced Islamic studies at the Da’wah Institute of Nigeria, where he later became an active member of its Think Tank. His academic and intellectual contributions have helped shape contemporary Islamic discourse in West Africa.
He has played a leading role in the propagation of Islam throughout the region, working extensively in Ghana, Nigeria, Liberia, Mali, and The Gambia. Imam Krayee served as keynote speaker at the First Africa Muslim Youth Conference in Kano, Nigeria, and for over eight years was a resource person and mentor to Muslim students at several Ghanaian institutions, including the University of Ghana, University of Cape Coast, and Accra Technical University, among others.
Beyond his religious leadership, Imam Krayee has contributed significantly to national governance and ethics. He has served as a member of the Grievance and Ethics Committee of the Supreme Court of Liberia since 2013 and was appointed to the Board of Directors of the National Port Authority in April 2024.
In recognition of his dedication to peace and justice, Imam Ali Krayee has received several honors, including the Golden Image Award and the Africa Baptist Youth Peace Award, both awarded in 2017.
BROTHER NATHANIEL E. KEVIN, A.D.D.
Alpha Leadership Award
The Alpha Leadership Award is presented to Brother Nathaniel E. Kevin in recognition of his stellar leadership as Dean of the Alpha Leadership Academy and Associate Area Director of the International District, and for his significant and lasting impact on the lives of Liberian youth.
In 2020, Brother Kevin established the Chapter Mentorship Program under the Alpha Leadership Academy. He currently serves as Chairman of the Alpha Leadership Academy, where the Mentorship Program provides educational and career guidance to more than forty (40) Alpha Scholars and mentees.
Brother Kevin has previously served Eta Epsilon Lambda Chapter, Liberia, as Financial Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President, and President. He is a seasoned professional in Economics, Finance, Telecommunications, and Information and Communications Technology (ICT). He earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Finance from the City University of New York, Staten Island, and a Master of Science in Telecommunications Engineering from The George Washington University, Washington, DC.
