Liberia YMCA CEO, Mrs. Vonyee N. Kolison, has urged partner organizations of the Civil Peace Service (CPS) Network to strengthen sustainability and resilience as donor priorities continue to change.

Speaking at the opening of a two-day training on resource mobilization, she emphasized that โ€œsustainability is no longer optional, but a necessity for organizations seeking to continue serving their communities effectively.โ€

The training equips CPS partners with practical tools to adapt to funding challenges, explore innovative approaches, and remain impactful in peacebuilding and community development.

Easter Reflection at Liberia YMCA

On Thursday, April 2, 2026, the Liberia YMCA convened a meaningful Easter reflection session in our conference hall, bringing together our dedicated staff, volunteers, and interns for a time of fellowship, learning, and spiritual renewal.

The service began with a powerful praise and worship session led by Intern, Marie Zoryeah, setting a spiritually uplifting tone for the reflection.

The reflection centered on the Seven Last Words of Jesus Christ, with each word presented in sequence by members of our YMCA community:

1๏ธโƒฃ โ€œFather, forgive themโ€ฆโ€ โ€” Lansana Conteh, Finance Director
2๏ธโƒฃ โ€œToday you will be with me in paradise.โ€ โ€” Claudius Thomas
3๏ธโƒฃ โ€œWoman, behold your sonโ€ฆโ€ โ€” James Wakor, HR/Operations Manager
4๏ธโƒฃ โ€œMy God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?โ€ โ€” Vonyee Newton Kolison, National General Secretary
5๏ธโƒฃ โ€œI thirst.โ€ โ€” Catherine Mensah and Theresa Browne, Interns
6๏ธโƒฃ โ€œIt is finished.โ€ โ€” Gayflor Pewee, Intern/Youth Representative
7๏ธโƒฃ โ€œFather, into Your hands I commit My spirit.โ€ โ€” Daniel Kollie, Director, YMCA Polytechnic College

Following the presentations, Daniel Kollie, YMCA Polytechnic Director, provided further insight, reinforcing the significance of the messages shared.

Each speaker delivered thoughtful reflections that deepened our understanding of Christโ€™s sacrifice, love, and mission.

Our Monitoring & Evaluation Officer, Amanda Armah, offered a powerful summary of the Seven Words and encouraged all participants to:
โ€ข Find a prayer partner for continued spiritual support
โ€ข Reflect on the Seven Words in our daily lives, both at home and within the Liberia YMCA

The session concluded with:
โ€ข A prayer for the National General Secretary led by Amos Davis, Support Staff
โ€ข A closing benediction delivered by Tunapu V. Conteh, Business Manager of YMCA Polytechnic College

This gathering reflects our mission:
โ€œThe YMCA of Liberia seeks to unite and empower young people through self-development and service to their community as an extension of the Kingdom of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.โ€

As we journey through this Easter season, may we continue to live out these teachings through faith, unity, and service.

Together, we reflect. Together, we grow. Together, we serve.

On Good Friday, we are sharing a message from World YMCA Secretary General Carlos Sanvee to the global YMCA Movement.

In this season of Lent, he reflects on honest questions, deep discernment and what it means to remain united as one Movement. His message is rooted in faith, love and a belief that unconditional love must always be stronger than fear or division. โค๏ธ

As we move through Holy Week and towards Easter, may we keep choosing unity, hope and love, trusting that we belong to one another across our diversity.

โœ๏ธ Good Friday Reflection | Liberia YMCA

Today, we remember the ultimate sacrifice of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christโ€”His suffering, His love, and His victory on the cross for all humanity.

Good Friday invites us to reflect on the powerful final words of Jesus, which continue to guide our faith and daily living:

1๏ธโƒฃ โ€œFather, forgive themโ€ฆโ€ โ€” A call to forgiveness
2๏ธโƒฃ โ€œToday you will be with me in paradise.โ€ โ€” A promise of salvation
3๏ธโƒฃ โ€œWoman, behold your sonโ€ฆโ€ โ€” A reminder of love and care for one another
4๏ธโƒฃ โ€œMy God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?โ€ โ€” Honesty in our struggles
5๏ธโƒฃ โ€œI thirst.โ€ โ€” His humanity and sacrifice
6๏ธโƒฃ โ€œIt is finished.โ€ โ€” The fulfillment of His mission
7๏ธโƒฃ โ€œFather, into Your hands I commit My spirit.โ€ โ€” Total surrender to God

As we reflect, we are reminded of our mission:

โ€œThe YMCA of Liberia seeks to unite and empower young people through self-development and service to their community as an extension of the Kingdom of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.โ€

In the spirit of Christโ€™s sacrifice, may we live lives of forgiveness, service, love, and unwavering faithโ€”empowering our communities and uplifting one another.

โ€œIt is finished.โ€ โ€“ John 19:30

๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ Wishing you a solemn and blessed Good Friday.
