Last weekend, our founder had the opportunity to speak on the "Prevention from common infectious disease and building a healthy lifestyle", at a health and hygiene workshop organized by the Faith and Love Educational Network.
The workshop brought together 30 school going girls and boys that gain knowledge in the chain of infection, mastering hand hygiene and best practices of hygiene in general, and identifying daily habits that strengthen immunity.
At the end of the workshop participants gear up to set one small achievable goal each for a week. The results will be monitored and shared when completed.

🚫 SAY NO TO DRUGS PROTECT YOUR PEACE, PRESERVE YOUR FUTURE 🚫

Drugs don’t solve problems they create them. They steal your health, your dreams, your relationships, and your purpose. What may seem like a quick escape becomes a lifetime of pain, regret, and lost potential.

You are worth more than a temporary high.
You deserve a life of clarity, strength, and success.
Don’t let peer pressure, boredom, or pain push you into a trap.

Choose purpose over addiction.
Choose strength over weakness.
Choose life. Choose freedom.

Be bold enough to walk away. Be wise enough to speak up. Be strong enough to help others break free too.

Say it loud, say it proud:
I CHOOSE ME. I SAY NO TO DRUGS.

DAY - 7

Let's talk about uterine fibroids!!!!

📍Societal norms of uterine fibroids.Cont'd 👇

✅ Recommendations for Improvement:

➡️ Increased Awareness and Education:
Public health campaigns and educational resources are needed to improve awareness of fibroids and promote early diagnosis.
➡️ Culturally Sensitive Care:
Healthcare providers should be mindful of cultural norms and beliefs when providing care and treatment for fibroids.
➡️ Addressing Health Disparities:
Efforts are needed to address the systemic and social factors that contribute to disparities in fibroid care.
➡️ Multidimensional Approach to Care:
Clinicians should consider the multidimensional aspects of fibroid care, including social, emotional, and mental health, in addition to physical symptoms.

📍In essence, societal norms, historical context, and cultural beliefs play a crucial role in shaping women's experiences with fibroids. Recognizing these factors is essential to improving care, reducing disparities, and empowering women to make informed decisions about their health.

📍By speaking out, you can help others feel less alone and encourage them to seek help. Fibroids should not be a silent burden carried by women. Breaking the taboos, educating ourselves and others, and advocating for better healthcare, we can empower women to take control of their reproductive health. Remember, knowledge is power, and together, we can create a supportive environment where no woman suffers in silence.

DAY - 7

Let's talk about Uterine Fibroids!!!!

Today, let's dive into some societal norms that sets barriers to women from speaking out on issues about uterine fibroids. These norms and historical factors can significantly influence how women perceive and manage uterine fibroids. They are often rooted in cultural beliefs and experiences with healthcare that can lead to delays in diagnosis, the impact of treatment decisions, and can even affect a woman's social life.

✅ Impact on Perception and Awareness:

➡️Low awareness:
Many women are unaware of fibroids and their potential symptoms, leading to delay in diagnosis and treatment.
➡️Cultural influences:
Social and cultural norms can shape how women view their bodies and reproductive health. Also impacting their willingness to seek medical advice.
➡️ Stigma:
In most cases, women may experience stigma or shame related to fibroids, particularly if they are concerned about fertility or the impact on their relationships.
➡️ Misconceptions:
Misinformation about fibroids can lead to unnecessary worry about cancer or other complications, which may also potentially discourage women from seeking appropriate care.

✅Impact on Decision-Making:

➡️ Fertility concerns:
Many women prioritize fertility when making decisions about fibroid treatment, especially if they have not yet had children.
➡️ Treatment options:
Societal norms and personal preferences can influence whether a woman chooses a hysterectomy (removal of the uterus) or other treatment options, like medication or minimally invasive procedures.
➡️Seeking second opinions:
Women may be more or less likely to seek a second opinion based on their social networks or past experiences with healthcare providers.

✅ Impact on Social Life:

➡️ Social withdrawal:
Fibroids symptoms, such as heavy bleeding or pain, can cause women to miss social activities and sometimes feel isolated.
➡️ Body image and relationships:
Fibroids can affect a woman's self-image and relationships due to concerns about heavy bleeding, pain, and other symptoms.

DAY - 6

Let's talk about Uterine Fibroids!!!

✅Non-hormonal Treatments:

➡️NSAIDs:
Such as ibuprofen or naproxen, can help reduce pain and menstrual bleeding.
➡️ Tranexamic acid:
Can help reduce heavy menstrual bleeding. Tablets are not contraceptive or may not affect your chance of getting pregnant.

✅ Minimally Invasive Procedures:

➡️ Uterine Artery Embolization (UAE): Involves blocking the blood supply to the fibroids, causing them to shrink. It's a less invasive option or may not cause more damage to tissues compared to surgery.
➡️ Myolysis: A procedure that uses heat or cold to destroy the fibroids.
➡️ Radiofrequency ablation: Uses heat to shrink fibroids, often with a short recovery time.
➡️ High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU): Uses focused ultrasound waves to shrink fibroids.

✅ Surgery:

➡️ Myomectomy:
Surgical removal of fibroids while preserving the uterus. Can be performed hysteroscopically, laparoscopically, or through a larger incision.
➡️ Hysterectomy:
Surgical removal of the uterus. Usually reserved for women who have completion or have severe symptoms.
➡️ Robotic-assisted myomectomy:
Allows for more precise and minimally invasive removal of fibroids through small incisions.

✅ Other Considerations:

➡️ Expectant Management:
For asymptomatic women with fibroids, monitoring may be recommended, as fibroids may shrink during menopause.
➡️ Lifestyle:
A healthy diet, including plenty of fruits, vegetables, and fish, may help reduce the risk of fibroids.
➡️ Individualized Approach:
Decisions of treatment should be made in consultation with a healthcare provider, taking into account the patient's specific circumstances and preferences.

DAY - 5

Let's talk about Uterine fibroids!!!

✅ Non-Surgical Treatments:
➡️Expectant Management:
For asymptomatic patients, especially those approaching menopause, monitoring fibroid size and symptoms may be sufficient.

✅ Medications:

➡️Pain relievers like ibuprofen or naproxen can help manage pain and reduce bleeding.

➡️Hormonal medications: Oral contraceptive pills, progestin-containing IUDs, or other hormonal therapies can help regulate periods and reduce bleeding.

➡️GnRH agonists medications can temporarily shrink fibroids and reduce bleeding, but are typically used short-term due to side effects.
Some common GnRH agonist medication Leuprolide (Lupron, Eligard), Goserelin (Zoladex) andTriptorelin (Trelstar, Triptodur Kit)

➡️Selective progesterone receptor modulators (SPRMs) are medications that helps manage symptoms and potentially shrink fibroids, and may be used as long-term. For example: Telapristone, Asoprisnil and Ulipristal acetate (UPA).

DAY -4

Let's talk about Uterine fibroids!!!!

✅ Treatment options of Uterine Fibroids👇👇

Uterine fibroids treatment may varies. It depends on the severity of symptoms, size and location of the fibroids, and whether the patient desires to maintain fertility. Options range from watchful waiting for asymptomatic cases to medical management with medications, minimally invasive procedures, and surgical interventions like hysterectomy or myomectomy.

Stay tuned as we talk about treatment options of uterine fibroids for the next (2) two days

DAY-2
Let's get into the real conversation 💚🤍🤍💚

✅What are fibroids??

Fibroids, also known as uterine fibroids or leiomyomas, are non-cancerous growths that develop in or around the uterus. They’re made of muscle and fibrous tissue and are quite common, especially among women of reproductive age.

✅ Key Facts About Fibroids:

Not cancerous: They are benign and rarely become cancerous.
Size varies: Fibroids can be as small as a seed or as large as a melon.
Number varies: A woman can have one fibroid or many.
The growth rate varies: Some grow slowly, others rapidly, and some remain the same size.

✅Where Do They Grow?

Fibroids can grow:
1. Inside the uterus (submucosal)
2. In the uterine wall (intramural)
3. On the outer surface of the uterus ( subserosal )
4. On a stalk attached to the uterus (pedunculated)
