We are delighted to announce that Her Excellency, Ambassador Nona Deprez, Head of the European Union Delegation to Liberia, and her entourage visited three locations of the Partners Programme in Grand Bassa County. During the visit, Ambassador Deprez and her team witnessed the innovative modes of cassava processing by empowered cassava processors and interacted with several beneficiaries of the Partners Programme, which is funded by the European Union in Liberia. The field visit provided valuable insights into the transformation journey of the Partners Programme from January 2018 to the present. From empowering women in farming to establishing vibrant Village Saving and Loan Associations (VSLAs), to break the chains of poverty, the European Union in Liberia, Welthungerhilfe Liberia, and its partners Concern Worldwide and ZOA Liberia are to shape a prosperous future for the Liberian people.

Snails rearing is a potential source of food as well as income for families across rural communities. Apart from its food benefits, it could contribute immensely towards the livelihood of smallholder farmers too. Snails are ideal to farm because they are easier to manage then cattle.
One of our national implementing partners Empowerment for Change works with communities to build snail huts and farm snails. Alex John Town in District 3, Grand Bassa happens to be one of the communities engaged with this process.
Mather Suah a resident of Alex John cleans the hut and manages the entire process with the help of staff of CEC. The community envisions building a bigger shelter for the snails, farm more snails and sell to nearby towns and villages.
