Congratulations to our Political Leader Vaye Wesse as he walks through the walls of SMPU with distinction (Magnum Cum Laude) BSC in Electrical Engineering.
He’s a man that is proven to have defied all societal and social odds every where he goes. He is a synonym of excellence from his high school days in Firestone High, later transitioning to NVTI , also to SMPU where he heads the presidency of EESA ( Electrical and Electronics Student Association) leading with distinction. As he departs he’s departing with distinction in the entire Engineering college πŸ™πŸΎπŸ”₯❀️

We, The Students Movement for better change (SMBC), are deeply disturbed by the recent revelations concerning the sexual abuse suffered by Johnetta M. Kortee, a student of the Stella Maris Polytechnics University, at the hands of their Accountant 206 instructor, Isaac Myers. Despite multiple complaints filed by the victim, the university administration has yet to take any meaningful action, and instead appears to be shielding the accused teacher.
This case highlights a serious failure in the university's responsibility to protect its students and to ensure a safe learning environment. The lack of action sends a dangerous message that the institution prioritizes the reputation of its faculty over the safety and well-being of its students.
We stand in solidarity with Johnetta and all survivors of sexual abuse. We demand immediate and transparent action from the university administration, including:

Immediate Suspension of the Accused: The accused teacher should be suspended pending a thorough and impartial investigation.

Independent Investigation: The university must commission an independent investigation to ensure that justice is served without bias or interference.

Support for the Victim: The university must provide comprehensive support services to the victim, including counseling, academic accommodations, and legal assistance.

Policy Review: A full review of the university’s policies and procedures regarding sexual harassment and assault must be conducted, with input from students and experts in the field, to prevent such incidents in the future.

We urge the university community and the public to stand with us in demanding accountability. Silence is complicity. We cannot allow this issue to be swept under the rug any longer. Johnetta deserves justice, and we will not rest until it is achieved.
Please share this message widely.

What is Good Friday?

According to the Christian faith, Jesus was arrested and put on trial for claiming to be the Son of God. Roman authorities sentenced him to death by crucifixion. He was beaten and forced to carry a wooden cross to the place of ex*****on β€” called Golgotha or Calvary β€” where he was nailed to the cross and left to die. Jesus was eventually taken down from the cross and buried, according to the Bible.

Christians believe Jesus died on the cross to save humanity from its sins and restore people's relationship with God. Many Christians refer to this belief as the Atonement.

Commemorating Jesus' crucifixion, Good Friday is a solemn day of mourning and reflection for Christians, who often attend special church services and prayer vigils.

Good Friday is a part of Holy Week, which includes Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday or Holy Thursday, and Good Friday, leading up to Easter Sunday.

How do Christians observe Good Friday?

Christians observe Good Friday in different ways, but here are some standard practices:

Fasting: Some Christians fast to commemorate Jesus' sacrifice, while others will refrain from eating meat.

Stations of the Cross: In this 14-step devotional practice, people retrace Jesus' final steps before his crucifixion. The stations are often represented through paintings in a church or outdoors.

Good Friday Processions: Some countries and cultures march with images and statues of Jesus or reenact his crucifixion.

Prayer and Church Services: Many Christians pray to contemplate the significance of Jesus' sacrifice and his death.
