In 2009 the World Bank selected Liberia along with seven other Sub-Saharan African countries to receive analytical support through the World Bank Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) Initiative. The World Bank ECCD project was in response to the crises children continue to experience in the developing world, including most especially Sub-Saharan Africa, where more than 125 million children
below six live. Children in Sub-Saharan Africa, including Liberia, are at serious risk, for they live in adverse social conditions characterized by poverty, diseases, corruption, lack of opportunities, lack of quality education, etc. At the 2000 World Summit, world leaders acknowledged the dire conditions in which children are involuntarily living when they adopted the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), now the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). They recognized the fact that educating children is one way to alleviate the problems of children in developing countries, for they believe and rightly so that “education is development”, “it creates choices and opportunities...”, it “reduces ... poverty and diseases”, and it “gives a stronger voice [to people, including children] in society.”
Empowering children is not just giving hope to children, but also is investing in the future stability of a society. The founder of this Foundation considers children as the future of society and as the current generation’s challenge to help children become productive citizens. Children, as the President of the Global Campaign for Education (GCE) noted in the GCE 2010 Report, have capacities, hopes, and dreams that, if tapped into, could play a significant role in shaping and maintaining strong communities. This Foundation is established to empower and give hope to needy children. It provides educational services (including health education), arts & music, recreation, and other needed services for children. The programs and projects of the Foundation are designed in ways that promote these core values:
o Compassion
o Peace
o Security
o Good health
o Quality education
o Children safety
o Child development
