Liberia is a country located in West Africa experienced 14 year brutal armed conflict. Many victims of this conflict were young Liberians both Disabled and non-disabled including boys and girls. Even though sounds of the guns are now silent through the disarmament process, yet issues of extreme poverty and Peace building remain a big problem among young Liberians. Majority of them live on less tha
n one dollar a day in this post conflict nation. It is against this background we the members of YPPD have decided joining Master Peace to establish this Peace Club in Monrovia, Liberia using community sporting through young girls and boys who are actually doing this well and the result has start coming out. The overall mission of this club is to work for the development of youths from all works of life, work and live side by side, empowered to overcome poverty. The objectives of this clubs are as follow:
-To advocate via informing, inspiring and celebrating social change led by and for youth
-To establish platforms to uphold the practice of socio-economic, political and social justice, women and youth so as to bring about social harmony, solidarity and peace in the lives of young people and the communities in which they live.
-To connects with organizations and individuals who support young people and build alliance between youth groups, empower and develop the marginalized and vulnerable groups to become responsible future leaders by taking active part in decision making processes and developmental programs at all levels
-To promote the use of participatory tools in advocacy and democracy, community development and developing effective reporting and information dissemination mechanisms at community and national levels.
-To provide sustainable livelihood alternatives for at-risk women and youth by providing the requisite economic empowerment supports.
-To engender equity and social inclusion in our work by ensuring everyone is a stakeholder.
