With just 7 days left until the Day of the African Child, how far have our African governments come in their commitment to budgeting for children's rights? It is worth recalling that last year's theme for the Day of the African Child was “Planning and Budgeting for Children’s Rights: Progress Since 2010.”

We must hold our leaders accountable to ensure that every child has the support they deserve.

The Liberia Children's Representative Forum District #9 Elections may have concluded, but the voices, dreams, and determination of young leaders continue to echo across the community.

Among the highlights of the election was the inspiring sight of a young and passionate candidate confidently presenting his vision to fellow children, sharing why he believed he could be a strong voice for their interests and aspirations.

With courage, conviction, and a commitment to leadership, he demonstrated that young people are not only the leaders of tomorrow—they are changemakers today.

MEET OUR GRADUATES!!

💻 From Learners to Digital Changemakers: 150 Young People Graduate with New Skills and New Dreams.

“A certificate is more than a piece of paper— it is proof of perseverance, growth, and ambition,” says a graduate.

After three months of intensive learning, 150 young people have successfully completed training in Computer Literacy and Digital Marketing through the SOS Children’s Villages in Liberia and Orange Foundation Digital Lab in Matadi.

As the world becomes increasingly digital, these graduates are now better prepared to access employment opportunities, launch businesses, tell their stories, and contribute meaningfully to Liberia’s development.

We celebrate not only what they have achieved, but what they are capable of becoming.

“This program gave me more than digital skills. It gave me confidence. I now believe that my dreams are achievable and that I have a place in the digital economy,” says 2nd graduate.

EMPOWERING CHILDREN, SHAPING THE FUTURE!!

Yesterday, we successfully conducted the District #9 elections of the Liberia Children’s Representative Forum in collaboration with the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection and the Child Protection Network.

The process brought together more than 250 children from across the district and was marked by transparency, inclusiveness, and fairness.

We are proud to have facilitated a peaceful election free from interference and undue influence, ensuring that every child had the opportunity to participate and make their voice count.

Special thanks to Deputy Minister Garmai S. Tokpah and her dedicated team for their unwavering support and commitment to child participation. Together, we have taken another important step toward empowering children to become active leaders and advocates for positive change in their communities.
