Mission4Peace: African Union Election Observation Mission (AUEOM) to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia

Messengers of Peace-Liberia Inc. (MOP) is pleased to announce the participation of another one of our Peace Messengers, Jeemah Sulonteh, on the African Union Election Observation Mission to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.

Jeemah is a trained MOP Mediator and recipient of the 2017 Most Committed Volunteer Award. As a long-standing Peace Messenger with us, she has remained connected to MOP over the years.

As an AUEOM observer, Jeemah joins election monitoring experts and observers from across the continent to observe the electoral process in line with the African Union’s principles for democratic elections. Ethiopia’s elections carry significant continental relevance, given the country’s important role in African diplomacy and regional affairs. This mission marks another important contribution of MOP as an institution to broader democratic and governance processes across the continent.

From peace clubs and mediation trainings to continental missions, the journey continues. We are proud to see our volunteers carrying the values of service and peacebuilding into important democratic processes across Africa.

We wish Jeemah a productive and successful mission in Ethiopia.

Continental Leadership Milestone: Messengers of Peace-Liberia's Founder & Executive Director Appointed to African Union Advisory Panel on Democratic Elections and Governance

We are beyond thrilled and immensely proud to announce the official appointment of our Founder and Executive Director, Ms. Gwendolyn S. Myers, to the African Union Advisory Panel on Democratic Elections and Governance!

This high-level appointment is a monumental milestone, not only for our institution but for the advancement of democratic integrity across the continent. Over the years, Ms. Myers has contributed extensively to the work of the African Union Election Observation Missions (AUEOM), particularly through Core Team engagements as a Gender and Youth Technical Expert. Her work has focused on strengthening inclusive democratic participation, advancing the Youth, Peace and Security Agenda in the electoral context of member states, promoting women’s political participation, and marginalized communities during elections in Africa.

The panel provides a platform for reflection on electoral integrity and offers actionable recommendations to the AU Commission to support democratic consolidation across the continent.

As an institution, we are deeply proud to witness this milestone and the confidence placed in our boss at the continental level. We remain confident that her experience, perspective, and continued advocacy for inclusive governance and youth participation will contribute meaningfully to the work of the Advisory Panel.

Congratulations, ED. Your journey continues to inspire us all.

Back to Back Missions4Peace…
African Union Election Observation Mission (AUEOM), Republic of Benin & Djibouti.

The future of Africa rests on how well we prepare our young people to participate in peace and democratic processes today.

Following the recent representation of MOP-Liberia by Sam G. Strother on the AUEOM to the Republic of Djibouti, we are proud to announce that another one of our volunteer peace messengers, Ann Maria-Williams, will represent the institution on the African Union Election Observation Mission (AUEOM) to the Republic of Benin Presidential Elections.

Through the participation pillar of the Youth, Peace and Security Agenda (YPS Agenda), young people are expected to be present, engaged, and contributing meaningfully to processes that promote peace and transparency across the continent. This right here is an example of what that participation looks like in practice.

MOP remains encouraged by the trust placed in our institution to continue broadening our reach and impact through these vital continental processes.

We look forward to more missions ahead in the coming months.

Happy Easter. He is Risen!

Easter is renewal. It is the restoration that follows sacrifice. It calls us to reflect on the kind of world we are building and the role each of us plays in shaping it. At its core, the message of Easter points us toward peace—peace that is practiced and sustained in our daily actions.

Carrying the identity of a Peace Messenger comes with responsibility; a responsibility we ought to fulfill through the discipline to act with integrity even in difficult moments, because choosing peace requires intention.

The story of the crucifixion and resurrection reminds us that even in the face of hardship, there is room for renewal. It is an invitation to examine the daily commitments we are making for peace.

As an institution built on the pillars of faith and service, Messengers of Peace–Liberia continues to stand with young people and communities across the country and continent in shaping a more peaceful and responsible society. May this Easter season renew our sense of purpose and strengthen our .

Strategic Global Engagement: MOP-Liberia at the United Nations in New York, USA

Messengers of Peace-Liberia Inc. is pleased to highlight the ongoing high-level diplomatic engagements of our Founder & Executive Director, Gwendolyn S. Myers, during the 70th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70) in New York.

Operating from the African Union Permanent Observer Mission to the United Nations, our ED continues to drive the discourse on Women, Peace and Security, inclusive justice, and youth-led peacebuilding, reinforcing the importance of grounded, community-informed approaches within global policy spaces.

As part of these engagements, she participated in a focused exchange with Elizabeth Spehar, Assistant Secretary-General for Peacebuilding Support, and Felipe Paullier, Assistant Secretary-General for Youth Affairs, examining priorities around financing for sustainable peace and leadership for peace. Ms. Myers also joined members of the United Nations Peacebuilding Commission, the New York peacebuilding community, and government partners for a high-level dialogue reflecting on lessons and forward directions for peacebuilding efforts emerging from CSW70.

These engagements reflect her continued contribution to shaping global peacebuilding discourse, ensuring that perspectives from Liberia and similar contexts remain present in conversations on sustainable peace, inclusive governance, and youth participation.

We are proud to celebrate our Executive Director’s meaningful contributions on in these global policy spaces. Indeed, nothing beats passion and genuine service.

The Peace Clubs in High Schools are Back!!
Building Young Leaders for Peace Through Entrepreneurship

On Friday March 13, Messengers of Peace-Liberia(MOP) hosted a joint Capacity Building Session for our Peace Clubs members from across high schools in Montserrado and Margibi Counties.

The program brought together students from the Harriette E. Bailey Memorial United Methodist High School, Calvary Baptist Church School System, Sr. Kathleen McGuire High School, and St. Teresa Convent High School for a series of interactive and engaging sessions, providing students with foundational exposure to leadership, public speaking, peacebuilding, and entrepreneurship. Through discussions, group activities, and reflections, participants explored how entrepreneurship can serve as a pathway for peace—empowering young people with the confidence, independence, and practical skills needed to address challenges within their schools and communities.

Messengers of Peace–Liberia extends sincere appreciation to Resilead-Canadian based Social Venture for supporting the Peace Clubs Program and helping expand opportunities for young people to learn, lead, and build resilient communities through innovation and service.

Together, we shall continue to invest in young leaders who will shape a more peaceful and prosperous future.

Youth + Peace = Sustainable Development

Mission 4 Peace: African Union Election Observation Mission (AUEOM) to the Republic of the Congo

Messengers of Peace–Liberia announces its first official Mission4Peace this year as one of our volunteer Peace Messengers, Catrina Dunbar, represents the institution on the African Union Election Observation Mission (AUEOM) to the 2026 Presidential Election of the Republic of the Congo.

Her participation reflects the continued collaboration between Messengers of Peace–Liberia and the African Union. The engagement is part of a broader continental effort to observe electoral processes in accordance with international standards and the mandate of the AU through the African Charter on Democracy, Elections and Governance (ACDEG - 2012) and the OAU/AU Declaration on the Principles Governing Democratic Elections in Africa (2002).

At Messengers of Peace–Liberia, we value opportunities that enable our volunteer peace messengers to contribute to regional democratic processes through responsible civic engagement and professional service. Participation in such missions reflects our growing collaboration with continental institutions and the continued involvement of young peace messengers from Liberia in regional peace and governance initiatives.

We extend best wishes to Catrina Dunbar as she undertakes this responsibility and represent the spirit of volunteerism and civic leadership that guides our work at Messengers of Peace–Liberia Inc.
