The Secretariat of the Liberian National Bar Association (LNBA) announces the resignation of its National President, Cllr. Bornor N. Varmah, following more than four years of dedicated and distinguished service to the Bar.

Cllr. Varmah served the LNBA as Secretary General for three (3) years and was subsequently elected National President in November 2024 and inducted into office in January 2025. His tenure has been marked by commitment, professionalism, and steadfast leadership in advancing the objectives of the Association.

His resignation comes as a result of his appointment as Chairman of the Law Reform Commission and his subsequent commissioning by the President of the Republic of Liberia. He has made the conscious decision to step down in order to fully consecrate himself to the impartial discharge of the affairs of the Commission in keeping with its statutory mandate.

The Secretariat of the LNBA expresses profound appreciation to Cllr. Varmah for his invaluable service and wishes him well as he transitions to serve our common patrimony with continued commitment, integrity, and distinction.

LNBA President Appoints Constitutional Review Committee

The Liberian National Bar Association (LNBA) announces that its President, Cllr. Bornor Varmah, on January 17, 2026, constituted a Constitutional Review Committee to undertake a comprehensive review of the Association’s Constitution and propose necessary reforms in line with best practices and the evolving needs of the Bar, for possible adoption at its next Annual National Convention later this year.

The Committee is composed of the following members:
1. Cllr. Ade Wade Kerkulah – Chair
2. Atty. Jeremiah Samuel Dugbo I – Secretary
3. Cllr. Mohammed Fahnbulleh – Member
4. Atty. Pindarous Allison – Member
5. Atty. Vivian D. Dogbey – Member

The LNBA remains committed to strengthening its institutional framework and promoting good governance within the Association.

🗓️ Liberian National Bar Association (LNBA) 2025 Convention

​The Liberian National Bar Association (LNBA) has officially announced the convening of its 2025 Annual Convention in Ganta City, Nimba County. The convention is scheduled to take place from December 4 to 7, 2025, at the Wuo Garbe Tarppia Intellectual Hall, Peace Empire Hotel.

​Key Events and Themes

​Official Opening: Friday, December 5, 2025, at 10:30 a.m.

​Theme: "STRENGTHENING THE RULE OF LAW: THE LAWYER'S ROLE IN RESTORING PUBLIC TRUST".

​Leadership: Proceedings will be led by LNBA National President, Cllr. Bornor M. Varmah.

​Keynote Speaker: Cllr. Mark M. Marvay, Managing Partner at Beyond Law Chambers and a former Member of the National Executive Council of the LNBA.

​Honors: The LNBA will use the Convention to honor high-performing judges in recognition of the number of cases they disposed of during 2025.

​Social Activities: The schedule includes social and fraternity events, as well as a parade and sport events scheduled for Saturday, December 6.

​Mandatory Continuing Legal Education (CLE):

​The Convention features a mandatory CLE program, designed to ensure the requisite professional competency of the Liberian bar.

​Counsellors and Attorneys-At-Law are strongly encouraged to attend to acquire the mandatory ten (10) CLE credit hours required for the 2025 professional year.

​The CLE sessions will feature two important and timely topics related to the new Value Added Tax (VAT) Law, which will be led by the legal team at the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA):

​"Introduction to the Value-Added Tax Law of 2024 that will replace the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP) Regulation No. 136 and the Rules".

​"Procedures for Implementation of the Value of the Added Tax Law of 2024; the Act to Amend Chapter 10 of the Revenue Code, 2000, to provide for Value Added Tax (VAT) replacing Goods and Services Tax (GST)".

​A review of the Rules of Court based on recommendations from the Committee established by the Honorable Supreme Court.

​LNBA National Headquarters Project

​The LNBA announces the completion of the ground floor of its National Headquarters project along the Robert International Airport highway, and a full report on the status of this project will be made at the Convention.
