VICTOR ZEAN DECLARES INTENTION TO CONTEST GRAND BASSA DISTRICT TWO VACANT SEAT 2023

Grand Bassa County District #2 Representative hopeful,Victor Ujay Zean has vowed to lobby with other representatives to discontinue the issue of salary harmonization if elected as representative comes 2023 Presidential and legislative elections in the country.

According to Zean, Liberia is going back and forward; while the rich continue to get richer and the poor continue to be poorer due to what he calls government policy of the harmonization.

Zean believes the CDC led government should have given more attention to the poor majority based on its pro poor agenda than brining about salary harmonization that continues to increase the hardship in the country.

The Grand Bassa County Dist #2 representative aspirant noted that slashing poor people or civil servants salary is a bad policy that affects the Liberian people in all sectors across the country.

He wants the Finance Minister to clearly explain details about the policy and avoid suffering the vast majority of low salary earners.

The wage harmonization program according to the Ministry of Finance entails fitting all government workers in to a pay grade with seven steps.

The grade covers all skills in government as developed by the Civil service agency.

The harmonization program abolished the basic and general allowance salary structures of the previous year’s giving all government workers one pay where employees were previously paid with wide discrepancies and all employees under the harmonization bill will now be paid more equitably with people of the same qualification and experience.

Speaking in an interview with KMTV, Zean who is a member of the Liberty Party observed that Grand Bassa County district #2 is lacking behind in the area of road connectivity, education, health care delivery system and lack of empowerment; something he said has motived him to join the race and help address the many challenges facing the district.

Zean through his Charity Foundation has over the period being engaged in road rehabilitation, building of bridges, provision of scholarship, medical assistance and identifying with old folks as part of his personal initiative in giving back to his people and county.

“There will be no reason for someone to contest in a political race if everything is ok and correctly done in each districts, counties and country at large, but because nothing has changed especially in my district,’’ he explained.

Victor Ujay Zean who is currently based in the United States of America maintained that if elected, he will advocate for the construction of modern clinic in the district, school, good road connection, and women and youth empowerment and make sure the district benefits from foreign companies operating in the district and the county at large.

When asked about his possibility of winning the election, Zean said he is confident based on his past and present work in the district evidenced by the love shown him by residents in the district through communications while he is still in the US.

Speaking Friday September 3, 2022 when he appeared on KMTV Liberia, Zean called on all residents to join him in bringing the real change to the district in the best interest of all citizens.

NOTICE: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Press Release

Victor Initiative Movement acknowledges the peaceful protest of citizens of Waka’s Town, district #2 on issues of bad road conditions which are hampering travel within the area.

The road is currently in a deplorable state, which has been destroyed by logging companies operating within the area.

We understand that the maintenance of roads within the area is a social corporate responsibility of the companies working within the district, but they are not in compliance with their responsibility in maintaining the road both for the people of Waka’s Town, district #2 and for its logging operations.

For far too long, lawmakers especially lawmakers of the district have ignored the citizens' plight in improving the road which is the only major route within the district used by both citizens and logging operations in the area.

We are therefore calling on all stakeholders to take this case seriously as we are here to make sure that our people have good road connectivity which is important for development and to ensure that they have access easily to health centers.

We hereby call on all youth groupings carrying on the peaceful protest that we stand with you on this noble cause and let us all join our efforts to fight and ensure that our government and concessions companies take this seriously as they must provide us the necessary benefits we deserve from the sale of our natural resources.

Let's be peaceful in the process as we all fight for the betterment of our District.

Signed: Victor Ujay Zean
Chief Executive Officer

VICTOR ZEAN FOUNDATION KICKOFF REHABILITATION WORK ON A MAJOR BRIDGE LINKING OVER 16 TOWNS IN GRAND BASSA

Glarkon, Grand Bassa — A major bridge connecting over 16 towns in District 2, Grand Bassa which has served as death trap for more than 30 years, is currently being rebuilT by the Victor Zean Cares Foundation.

The Nahn’s Town bridge is located miles away from the district’s main commercial capital Glarkon in District #2 , Grand Bassa County.

Commuters from towns and villages have found it difficult to transport their goods to Buchanan and other parts of Liberia for more then 30 years.

Victor Zean Cares Foundation is a Non-For profit organization carrying out humanitarian services across Grand Bassa County visited Nahn’s Town to see the deplorable condition of the bridge which has caused impediments for businesspeople using the route to transport their goods.

The Foundation upon seeing the challenge vehicles and motorcycles face in accessing the road , speedily launched the rehabilitation process of the damaged bridge.

During the launching of the bridge rehabilitation, Victor Smith , Paramount chief of the Clan told FrontPageAfrica, “this bridge got damaged since 1986 when we were young boys in this district.”

He further stated, “Our leaders can only pretend like they want to fix this bridge during elections and they can’t complete the work.”

Elder Smith mentioned that his prayer had been to see the bridge being rebuilt before he dies , adding that he feels so sad seeing his kids walking with goods on their heads .

“I pray that the bridge’s rehabilitation gets completed in the soonest so that our goods can easily be to the market”.

Moncemar Taylue, an inhabitant of the town said, “I am in tears because we have suffered for so many years and no one lawmaker or government official could come to our aid”.

She lamented, “We been walking for several years because vehicles and motorcycles can’t even enter our towns and villages due to this same bridge problem.”

Sylvester Jasper, Director of Victor Zean Cares Foundation explained that his boss Victor Zean is a humanitarian who once lived in the slum communities before traveling to the United States of America.

“My boss passed through all these difficult times and so when we told him about this bridge, he wasted no time but provided over over thousand United States Dollars ($7,000USD) to have this bridge rehabilitated.”

He further stated, “We’re renting an excavator machine for USD$1,200 per day and the guys are spending five days to have the work done, besides we are providing drums of fuel for the work and also transported the equipment.”

“As we have started today, we won’t stop until the bridge is rehabilitated and turned over to our people.”

George Gayebueh during the launch said, the Chairman of the Liberty Party, Senator Nyonblee Kangar Lawrence, earlier attempted rehabilitating the bridge but she was distracted by people from the ruling party.

He mentioned that ex-Senator Gbehzohngar Findley allegedly promised to build the bridge, something according to him, stopped the Liberty Political Leader from Intervening.

“I want to say thank you to the Victor Zean Cares Foundation for thinking about our people because they’re really struggling.”

He further stated, “The office of Senator Nyonblee Kangar Lawrence is opened and prepared to work with people who thinks about development.”

The bridge rehabilitation project commenced on Saturday, November 20,2021 and is expected to get completed at the close of November this year.

The project when completed will serve as a mile stone for citizens of Nahn’s Town and other surrounding villages who have struggled for years.
