🌙 EID-UL-FITR 2026: A MESSAGE OF RENEWAL, UNITY, AND PURPOSE 🌙

As the crescent moon ushers in the blessed day of Eid-ul-Fitr this Friday, we at YIL-NETWORK The Gambia extend our most profound felicitations to the Muslim Ummah across the nation and beyond.

This sacred occasion marks not merely the conclusion of Ramadan, but the triumphant culmination of sacrifice, discipline, spiritual elevation, and unwavering devotion. It is a moment that calls us to transcend beyond celebration into reflection, beyond festivity into responsibility.

Eid reminds us that true success lies not only in fasting from food and drink, but in purifying the soul, uplifting humanity, and embodying compassion, generosity, and justice in all facets of life.

As youth leaders and nation-builders, let us seize this moment to rekindle our collective commitment toward service, unity, and transformative impact. Let this Eid be a catalyst for renewed vision, strengthened solidarity, and an unrelenting pursuit of excellence in our commiunities.

May this blessed day illuminate our paths, fortify our (faith), and inspire us to continue building capacities, empowering minds, and shaping a future defined by purpose and progress.

✨ Eid Mubarak to you and your families!
Together, we rise. Together, we lead.
Best regards

YIL–Network Gambia Chapter Conducts Humanitarian Visit to Tanka Tanka Psychiatric Hospital

Banjul, The Gambia – 28 February 2026, Youth International Leadership Network (YIL–Network), The Gambia Chapter, on Friday carried out a humanitarian visit and donation presentation at the Tanka Tanka Psychiatric Hospital, reaffirming its commitment to service, social responsibility, and inclusive national development.

The delegation, led by the Chapter’s Country Director, emphasized that leadership is best demonstrated through service to society’s most vulnerable groups. In his remarks, the Country Director highlighted several community-focused initiatives undertaken by the chapter across the country, noting that humanitarian action remains central to YIL–Network’s mission.

During the event, the Chapter President expressed appreciation to the hospital’s management for the warm reception and for accepting the donation on behalf of the institution. The Vice President further stressed the importance of compassion, inclusion, and sustained collaboration between civil society organizations and public institutions to strengthen healthcare delivery, particularly in the area of mental health.

The donation was officially received by Mr. Mamadou Bah, who conveyed the hospital’s gratitude and acknowledged the contribution as a meaningful step toward improving patient welfare and supporting the facility’s operational capacity.

Following the presentation, members of the delegation toured the hospital, gaining first-hand insight into the realities of mental health care delivery in The Gambia. The tour was followed by an interactive engagement with hospital management, during which discussions focused on patient care, rehabilitation programs, safety measures, and institutional challenges.

Concerns were raised regarding infrastructure standards, patient management systems, and long-term rehabilitation outcomes. In response, management provided a transparent overview of the hospital’s challenges, citing limited resources, infrastructural constraints, and a growing number of patients requiring specialized care.

The visit underscored YIL–Network’s continued advocacy for mental health awareness and its broader humanitarian agenda. The organization reiterated its resolve to build strategic partnerships that strengthen national institutions and promote dignity, inclusion, and sustainable development for all.

PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT: IGNITE AFRICA CONFERENCE 2.0

The Organizing Committee of the Ignite Africa Conference 2.0 hereby informs the public, partners, delegates, speakers, sponsors, and all stakeholders that the Conference has been postponed and extended due to insufficient financial resources and logistical support required to deliver the event at the standard, scale, and continental impact envisioned.

This decision has been taken responsibly and in good faith, prioritizing institutional credibility, delegate safety, program quality, and the long-term integrity of the Ignite Africa platform. Our commitment remains to convene a well-resourced, inclusive, and high-impact continental youth conference aligned with international best practices, Africa Agenda 2063, the SDGs, AfCFTA, and human rights frameworks.

We are pleased to inform stakeholders that the Organizing Committee is currently engaged in active consultations with the Government of the Republic of Liberia, through the Office of the Vice President and the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Acting Deputy Minister). These engagements are focused on strengthening institutional collaboration, government alignment, and resource mobilization, with the aim of repositioning Ignite Africa Conference 2.0 as a government-supported, historically significant continental platform for advancing youth leadership, peacebuilding, human rights, and sustainable development.

International Delegates and Speakers who have already secured flight tickets are hereby advised that they may extend or adjust their travel dates by utilizing ticket management and rebooking options with their respective airlines. In particular, participants traveling with Ethiopian Airlines may liaise with the airline to explore date-change or extension options to align with the proposed new conference window of 17–23 May 2026, in accordance with airline policies and fare conditions. The Organizing Committee will provide official confirmation letters to support such requests where required.

All international participants have been formally advised to pause immediate travel, and no international arrivals have taken place. Registered delegates will receive direct official communication regarding participation arrangements, including credit transfer toward the rescheduled Conference and updated logistics.

The Conference is being repositioned for implementation between 17–23 May 2026, subject to the conclusion of consultations and final coordination. A confirmed date, updated implementation roadmap, and program adjustments will be officially communicated through our recognized channels once finalized.

We sincerely appreciate the patience, understanding, and continued solidarity of our partners, delegates, speakers, sponsors, and supporters. Together, we remain firmly committed to delivering a Conference that truly ignites Africa’s youth leadership, innovation, and future.
