โBa Leh talkโ
Ba Leh Talk is a peer-to-peer Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) discussion series designed to create a safe, friendly, and judgment-free space where young people can openly discuss issues affecting their health, relationships, and overall well-being.
The initiative recognizes that many adolescents and young people often find it difficult to discuss sensitive SRHR topics with parents, guardians, or elders due to cultural norms, fear of judgment, embarrassment, or the belief that such conversations are taboo. At the same time, some young people may be reluctant to seek information from health workers because of concerns about confidentiality, stigma, or lack of trust.
As a result, many adolescents turn to the people they feel most comfortable withโtheir friends, classmates, siblings, cousins, or peers for advice and guidance on issues related to sexual and reproductive health. While this demonstrates the importance of peer support, it also raises a critical concern: Is the information being shared accurate, reliable, and safe? Unfortunately, misinformation, myths, and misconceptions can easily spread among peers, leading young people to make decisions based on incomplete or incorrect information.
Hence โBa Leh Talkโ
Ba Leh Talk was created to bridge this gap by providing a platform where peer-to-peer conversations are encouraged, but with access to accurate, evidence-based, and youth-friendly SRHR information. The initiative leverages the natural trust that exists among young people while ensuring that the information shared is correct, reliable, and empowering.
Through open discussions, experience sharing, and guided conversations, Ba Leh Talk enables adolescents and young people to ask questions freely, learn from one another, challenge harmful myths, and gain the knowledge and confidence needed to make informed decisions about their health and future.
Ultimately, Ba Leh Talk seeks to transform everyday peer conversations into opportunities for learning, empowerment, and positive changeโensuring that when young people seek advice from one another, they are equipped with the right information rather than misinformation.
