AN EXECUTIVE SUMMARY OF CHRISTIAN-FOUNDATION FOR SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT (CFSD)
Established in 2020, Christian-Foundation for Social Development (CFSD) is a registered non-for-profit and non-governmental organization (NGO) in Liberia involved in social and gender-based violence (SGBV), social and behavioral change communication (SBCC), climate-smart agriculture, food and nutrition security, and land rights advocacy.
The organization’s objective is to support, promote, advocate, and empower vulnerable, marginalized, disadvantaged and disintegrated women, youth, children and men who have been affected, or are likely to be affected by conflict, violence, poverty, and social injustice.
The vision of Christian-Foundation for Social Development is to improve the livelihood and social well-being of vulnerable, marginalized, disadvantaged and disintegrated women, youth, children and men by creating opportunities and combating social injustice. We also endeavor to empower women, youth, children and men to live in peace and with dignity, be in good health, and have access to essential and affordable resources and information.
The organization also strives to address food insecurity, improve rural livelihoods, alleviate poverty, and create opportunities for sustainable rural development through agriculture. This organizational intervention results to the fact that rural people solely depend on agriculture for their livelihoods or survival.
The organization in the next five years seeks to extensively work in collaboration and partnership with international donor institutions, stakeholders of government through relevant ministries and agencies, relevant civil society and community-based organizations, and local groups to address food insecurity, raise awareness on issues of sexual and gender-based violence, advocate for women and youth land rights, campaign against social and cultural injustice, and improve rural livelihoods by alleviating poverty through interventions of climate-smart agriculture, and food and nutrition security.
Four (4) main objectives underpin the work of Christian-Foundation for Social Development:
Alleviation of poverty through agriculture and sustainable rural development.
Eradication of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV).
Promotion of women and youth land rights.
The fight against social and cultural injustice.
Three (3) strategic goals seek to support the expansion and the sustainability of Christian-Foundation for Social Development for the next five years:
Organizational development – improve communication and profile of Christian-Foundation for Social Development work through social and behavioral change communication, increase staff and volunteer capacity, and secure funding to ensure sustainability.
Create awareness – address and combat sexual and gender-based violence, poverty alleviation, social and cultural injustice, as well as support for those who are affected by these issues to raise a voice at the local, national, and global level. It is also Christian-Foundation for Social Development goal to raise awareness and become a critical organization at the local and national levels, to champion the fight against sexual and gender-based violence and social injustice.
Community Development – through partnership and collaboration, the organization endeavors to improve rural livelihoods, create opportunities, mobilize grassroots women and youth in rural communities, provide skills training or capacity-building meant to address issues affecting rural people.
