🟠Unmet need for family planning amongst adolescent girls is almost 50 percent
🟠The rate of teenage pregnancies is 30 percent.

This is too high, and it has consequences on the social services and on the protection and development of the girl child in Liberia.

On September 29, 2025, our organization, represented by Program Coordinator Hassan HD Konuwa, joined a multi-stakeholder engagement meeting in observance of World Contraceptive Day. The event, hosted by Youth ARISE 4 Development, centered on Liberia’s FP2030 commitments made during the global review in Nairobi, Kenya. The discussion aimed to update youth-led organizations and civil society groups on progress toward these commitments, strengthen their role in monitoring and advocacy, redefine their contributions to advancing the FP2030 agenda, and promote accountability through advocacy for the timely submission of Liberia’s annual FP2030 self-report.

On Sunday August 30, 2025, we welcomed new volunteers to the Action Against Sexual Gender-Based Violence Team in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County in a productive session held at Philomena Guest House. A national training will soon equip our newly recruited volunteers with stronger skills to combat sexual and gender-based violence and educate adolescents about their Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) in selected communities. Together, we’re building a committed force for change.

Today, we proudly joined the Celebration of World Population Day—a joint event organized by UNFPA Liberia and the Paynesville City Corporation (PCC), held at the Paynesville City Hall. The program brought together several high-level dignitaries, including the Honorable Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, the UN Resident Coordinator, the Superintendent of Montserrado County, the Director General of LISGIS, and the Honorable Lord Mayor of Paynesville City, among others. The keynote address was delivered by Hon. Debah Varpilah, Senator of Grand Cape Mount County and Chair of the Senate Committee on Health.

Following the main program, our volunteers actively participated in a side event—a focus group discussion on the impact of sexual and reproductive health on Liberia’s population and development. The interactive session provided a platform for our volunteers to share their perspectives and offer recommendations to policymakers and development partners.

Special thanks to UNFPA Liberia for the invitation and for championing these critical conversations.
