FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Health Tech Liberiaโ€™s Advocacy Contributes to Ministry of Educationโ€™s National School Health Efforts

MONROVIA, LIBERIA
August 20, 2026
Health Tech Liberia (HTL) is pleased to highlight its contribution to the Ministry of Educationโ€™s ongoing efforts to strengthen school health and student well-being in Liberia.

HTL participated in a two-day review workshop organized by the Ministry of Education to review the National School Health Club Training Manual and National School Health Policy. The organization was subsequently invited to the official launch of the revised Manual and Policy on August 18, 2026, represented by its Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Madam Makessa Bility.

The organizationโ€™s involvement builds on advocacy initiated last year, when Health Tech Liberia engaged the Ministry of Education, Students Personnel Office to advocate for the establishment of mental health clubs in secondary schools, beginning in Montserrado County.

As part of the advocacy, HTL conducted an assessment of mental health clubs and student support structures in schools an assessment that was led by it founder Madam Makessa supported by her team members. The findings were documented and used to strengthen advocacy for the inclusion of mental health within Liberiaโ€™s national school health framework.

Health Tech Liberia is pleased that the revised National School Health Club Training Manual now includes a dedicated section on mental health and psychosocial services. The framework recognizes the importance of creating school environments that promote studentsโ€™ health, safety, mental well-being, and social development.

For HTL, this represents an important step in ensuring that students have access to mental health information, peer support, and appropriate referral pathways when support is needed.

Health Tech Liberia appreciates the Government of Liberia and Ministry of Education, the Students Personnel Office, stakeholders, educators, partners, and its team for their contributions to this important national effort.

HTL remains committed to working with government, schools, communities, young people, and partners to strengthen mental health awareness, psychosocial support, referral systems, and student well-being across Liberia.
From Advocacy to Action. From Action to Impact.

We ๏ฟผ celebrate the strength, love, and sacrifice of mothers across Liberia and the world.

On this Motherโ€™s Day, we also honor the women who lost their lives while giving life. Their stories remind us that maternal health is not just a womanโ€™s issue, but a public health priority and a call to action.

We believe technology and innovation can help reduce maternal mortality through better access to healthcare information, digital health systems, telemedicine, maternal tracking, and timely emergency support for pregnant women, especially in underserved communities.

As we celebrate mothers today, we renew our commitment to advancing health solutions that protect every mother and every child.

Happy Motherโ€™s Day to all mothers and future mothers. Your care builds healthier families, stronger communities, and a better future.

LMDC Takes Major Leap Into the Digital Era, Launches New System to Modernize Clinical Oversight

The Liberia Medical and Dental Council will unveil its new digital platform on Wednesday, December 10, marking a major step in its effort to modernize healthcare regulation in the country. The system, developed by Creator Matrix, is designed to streamline essential processes and strengthen oversight of medical and dental practice nationwide.

The launch of the LMDC digital platform is expected to deliver several key advantages. It will simplify licensing and registration, reduce paperwork, and shorten processing times for health professionals. It will improve the Councilโ€™s ability to track compliance, monitor practitioners, and maintain accurate records. The platform will also support continuous professional development by making training and regulatory updates more accessible. Collectively, these improvements are positioned to strengthen public trust, enhance service delivery, and contribute to a more efficient and accountable healthcare regulatory system in Liberia.

The initiative follows a commitment made by Dr. Ayun K. Cassell, III during his induction as Chairperson of the Council in July. At that ceremony, he pledged to lead a shift toward digital operations that would enhance how the Council regulates clinical services and engages with health practitioners.

Dr. Cassell also highlighted the importance of evidence-based decision making and the value of adopting technology that improves efficiency and transparency across all regulatory functions. According to him, stronger systems will help reinforce public confidence and ensure that Liberians receive competent, ethical, and compassionate care.

That pledge helped pave the way for a strategic planning retreat held in August, which focused on creating a long term roadmap for 2026 to 2030. Convened under the theme โ€œStrengthening Regulation and Advancing Quality Healthcare through Innovation and Digital Transformation: A Roadmap for 2026 to 2030,โ€ the gathering brought together Council members, sector leaders, and technical partners to define a clear and ambitious agenda for the years ahead.
