Dear Vetting Committee,
My name is Wilmot Kerkulah, a nominee for the Youth In Innovation Award, of the Change Makers Recognition edition, National Youth Dialogue.
I'm a young Liberian dedicated to advancing science and technology through research, innovation, and digital problem-solving.
As a Data Science and Analytics student, I apply scientific principles such as analysis, observation, and critical thinking to understand real issues and design meaningful solutions. My studies have strengthened my foundation in statistics, research methods, and computational reasoning, enabling me to use data as a tool for national development and community empowerment.
I currently serve as the Lead Developer of the ACFI Ministry Mobile App, a project that required scientific planning, system analysis, and technical precision. From structuring the application to coding and testing, every stage demanded the discipline and accuracy associated with scientific work. This experience helped me sharpen my ability to transform ideas into practical digital tools that support communication, engagement, and organizational growth.
In addition, I am the Lead Developer of the Health Tech Liberia Mental Health Mobile Application, a solution designed to increase awareness, connection, and access to mental health information in Liberia. This project involves applying data-driven thinking, user research, and evidence-based design to create an innovative digital resource for young people and communities. Working on this app has deepened my appreciation for how science, data, and technology can directly improve well-being and support early intervention.
I am applying for the Youth in Science Award because my work demonstrates a commitment to scientific inquiry, innovation, and real-world problem-solving. Through my academic journey, app development experience, and dedication to promoting science among young people, I aim to contribute to a more technologically advanced and scientifically aware Liberia.
Thank you for reviewing my application, and I look forward to the opportunity to continue contributing.
