LMDC Takes Major Leap Into the Digital Era, Launches New System to Modernize Clinical Oversight

The Liberia Medical and Dental Council will unveil its new digital platform on Wednesday, December 10, marking a major step in its effort to modernize healthcare regulation in the country. The system, developed by Creator Matrix, is designed to streamline essential processes and strengthen oversight of medical and dental practice nationwide.

The launch of the LMDC digital platform is expected to deliver several key advantages. It will simplify licensing and registration, reduce paperwork, and shorten processing times for health professionals. It will improve the Council’s ability to track compliance, monitor practitioners, and maintain accurate records. The platform will also support continuous professional development by making training and regulatory updates more accessible. Collectively, these improvements are positioned to strengthen public trust, enhance service delivery, and contribute to a more efficient and accountable healthcare regulatory system in Liberia.

The initiative follows a commitment made by Dr. Ayun K. Cassell, III during his induction as Chairperson of the Council in July. At that ceremony, he pledged to lead a shift toward digital operations that would enhance how the Council regulates clinical services and engages with health practitioners.

Dr. Cassell also highlighted the importance of evidence-based decision making and the value of adopting technology that improves efficiency and transparency across all regulatory functions. According to him, stronger systems will help reinforce public confidence and ensure that Liberians receive competent, ethical, and compassionate care.

That pledge helped pave the way for a strategic planning retreat held in August, which focused on creating a long term roadmap for 2026 to 2030. Convened under the theme “Strengthening Regulation and Advancing Quality Healthcare through Innovation and Digital Transformation: A Roadmap for 2026 to 2030,” the gathering brought together Council members, sector leaders, and technical partners to define a clear and ambitious agenda for the years ahead.

Dear Vetting Committee,

My name is Wilmot Kerkulah, a nominee for the Youth In Innovation Award, of the Change Makers Recognition edition, National Youth Dialogue.

I'm a young Liberian dedicated to advancing science and technology through research, innovation, and digital problem-solving.

As a Data Science and Analytics student, I apply scientific principles such as analysis, observation, and critical thinking to understand real issues and design meaningful solutions. My studies have strengthened my foundation in statistics, research methods, and computational reasoning, enabling me to use data as a tool for national development and community empowerment.

I currently serve as the Lead Developer of the ACFI Ministry Mobile App, a project that required scientific planning, system analysis, and technical precision. From structuring the application to coding and testing, every stage demanded the discipline and accuracy associated with scientific work. This experience helped me sharpen my ability to transform ideas into practical digital tools that support communication, engagement, and organizational growth.

In addition, I am the Lead Developer of the Health Tech Liberia Mental Health Mobile Application, a solution designed to increase awareness, connection, and access to mental health information in Liberia. This project involves applying data-driven thinking, user research, and evidence-based design to create an innovative digital resource for young people and communities. Working on this app has deepened my appreciation for how science, data, and technology can directly improve well-being and support early intervention.

I am applying for the Youth in Science Award because my work demonstrates a commitment to scientific inquiry, innovation, and real-world problem-solving. Through my academic journey, app development experience, and dedication to promoting science among young people, I aim to contribute to a more technologically advanced and scientifically aware Liberia.

Thank you for reviewing my application, and I look forward to the opportunity to continue contributing.
