The Liberian Youth Biodiversity Network (LYBN) has received a grant from Women for Conservation to support women in Bonla Town, Nimba County, many of whom depend on the bush meat trade for their livelihoods.

This funding will enable us to provide alternative livelihood skills and help these women transition to sustainable income-generating activities while reducing pressure on local wildlife.

Through this partnership, we aim to empower women, protect wildlife, and promote community-led conservation in the region.

Liberian Youth Biodiversity Network

There is a Global Framework, formally known as the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF).

This is a global plan adopted in December 2022 under the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). Its purpose is to guide countries in halting and reversing biodiversity loss by 2030 and achieving a world where people live in harmony with nature by 2050.

The framework includes:

4 long-term goals for 2050, focused on the health of ecosystems, species conservation, fair sharing of benefits from genetic resources, and adequate financial and capacity support.

23 action-oriented targets for 2030, covering areas like habitat protection, species recovery, pollution reduction, sustainable use of resources, and the rights and roles of Indigenous peoples and local communities.
