We are a not for profit organization that is dedicated to preventing and eradicating torture, providing assistance to all those whose lives have been shattered and impacted by torture and other forms of injustice around the world. *Who We Are
The Global Act Against Torture and Injustice (GAATI Liberia) is an all-inclusive, non-for-profit organization accredited by the Government of Liberia, workin

g to prevent and eradicate torture, and provide assistance to those whose lives have been shattered and impacted by torture and other forms of abuse. Our goal is also to increase participation in local democracy, to inspire individuals in urban and rural communities to become informed about local issues and their rights, to create a space for mainstreaming rural voices in order to contribute to their community and the society, and to support accessibility, transparency and accountability in the justice system of Liberia. We are motivated by our belief that local government affects residents’ lives in a multitude of ways, and that the contribution of an ethically engaged institution, and populace are necessary for a strong community and a vibrant civil society. We are concerned by the numerous news from across Liberia and the world over of various kinds of abuses (including Physical abuse, Domestic violence, Sexual abuse, Psychological or emotional abuse, Financial or material abuse, Modern slavery, Discriminatory abuse, Organizational or institutional abuse, Neglect or acts of omission, Self-neglect), the growing number of wayward, in a Liberian term referred to as “Zogos” in cities and communities across Liberia, the growing number of adolescents selling in street corners and between cars in cities during school hours, and mostly, the culture of impunity which is becoming a way of life in Liberia, as evident in the local dailies and international reviews (Human Right Watch, Amnesty International (Liberia 2017/2018), United Nations Human Rights, etc.) It is our goal that every Liberian from urban to rural, be informed of their rights, be empowered and engaged into a Community of Practice in order to bring about positive change in Liberia. We are also committed to providing improvement in the sectors of child education, community empowerment, agriculture, youth development and career development. GAATI, NFP Liberia is managed by a group of diverse professionals with adept competencies, extensive experience and wide-ranging exposure in organizational management. Some of our professionals include enterprising and accomplished young practitioners, professionals with project management experience who have worked with international organizations public sector and policy development experts and top-notch engineers from renowned universities around the world. The organization has a small, but effective resource personnel with experience in managing and implementing projects. The organization a structured framework to implement projects in a very cost effective way, where projects would always be conducted with very strong integration together with local community representation and responsibilities. Some of our staff have extensive work experience in development work with international organizations including USAID funded projects including the Education Development Center (EDC), FHI360, RTI International, UNDP, UNAIDS as well as the private sector; and providing reliable support services and consultancy to a wide variety of administrative and field work in senior level management position including Deputy Chief of Party and Senior Program Coordinator, Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist and Analyst, etc. Bottom line of the organization’s philosophy is building a long-term experience in the field of development work where interpersonal relationship, reliability, assured quality and target oriented modern technology are the major building blocks. It is an organization where professionals from both technical and functional field groups work together with one objective of providing humanitarian services and innovations in development work.
