After participating in a one week TOT training sponsored by FAO Liberia under the Forest and Farm Facility (FFF) project, our CEO Cyrus Nemenkeh Peters will be returning hopefully tomorrow. The Community Empowerment and Innovation In Agriculture Cooperative Society Inc was among three of the seven Forest and Farm Producer Organizations (FFPOs) implementing the FFF project in Liberia that were selected to join their counterparts in The Gambia to participate in the Building Resilience (BR-2) for Climate Change training. The training was intended to provide capacity building for Farmers Organizations on how they can support their members in addressing climate change, identify value chains at risks and adaptation strategies. During the course of the training, there were numerous presentations and provisions of resource materials by both national and international facilitators for representatives from each organization to roll out the training for their members, Staff as well as their beneficiaries upon their return. Our CEO including the rest of the participants we also trained on how to map farmers' farms so as to know the location, actual size of their farms as well as the type of crop(s) cultivated on the plot (farm) using data collection tool provided by FAO.
Participants of this Building Resilience training also visited farming plots, cashews plantations and community forests that are currently affected by climate change in The Gambia, Upper River Region. We as an organization want to be appreciative to FAO Liberia and the management of the FFF project for confiding in our CEO to join his colleagues from Liberia for such an educational and experience sharing trip to The Gambia. We wish you all safe flight ✈️ and happy returns to Mama Liberia.
