It is with deep sorrow and a heavy heart that we inform you about the passing of one of our former instructors, Mr. Christopher Harris, affectionately known as “Chrismatic.”
Mr. Harris passed away last night at Duside Hospital. His passing is a great loss to his family, former students, colleagues, and the entire Firestone Senior High School community.
As an instructor, he touched the lives of many students and contributed to the growth and development of the institution. His memories, teachings, and impact will forever remain with those who had the privilege of knowing and learning from him.
We extend our deepest condolences to his family, loved ones, former colleagues, and everyone mourning this painful loss.
May his soul rest in perfect peace. 🕊️

In the growing community of young Liberian scientists making meaningful contributions to environmental protection, Mr. Joseph F. Charles stands out as a committed professional whose work continues to strengthen Liberia’s environmental governance and scientific capacity.

Mr. Charles serves as Assistant Director for Monitoring and Research at the Environmental Protection Agency of Liberia and also serves as the country’s National Focal Point for Biodiversity Beyond National Jurisdiction (BBNJ). Through these roles, he continues to demonstrate exceptional commitment to advancing environmental research, promoting scientific knowledge, and supporting policies that protect Liberia’s ecosystems.

His journey reflects the importance of investing in young scientists who combine technical expertise with a strong sense of public service. At the EPA, Mr. Charles contributes to efforts that improve environmental monitoring systems, strengthen research activities, and provide reliable scientific information to support decisions on environmental management.

His role as BBNJ National Focal Point highlights his contribution to Liberia’s participation in global marine conservation efforts. He works to ensure that Liberia’s interests are represented in discussions surrounding the protection and sustainable use of marine biodiversity beyond national jurisdiction.

Colleagues describe Mr. Charles as hardworking, focused, and committed to excellence. His passion for science and environmental protection continues to inspire others while demonstrating that young professionals have a critical role to play in shaping Liberia’s environmental future.

Ouvadamus (Latin): Where Do We Go From Here?

19 July, A Historic Day for the 419ers which simply represents the 4 division 1 students and 19 division 2 students.
Fourteen years ago today, the 2012 Graduating Class of Firestone Senior High School, proudly celebrated as the “419ers,” stepped beyond the walls of our great institution and etched our names into its history.
Today, as we reflect on the path we have traveled, our hearts are filled with gratitude, pride, and humility. From the halls of Firestone to different corners of Liberia and the world, our classmates have continued to rise and make meaningful contributions. Many have pursued higher education, earning Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, while some are Medical Doctors and others are advancing toward Ph.Ds and taking on impactful roles in both the public and private sectors.
Our journey has not been without struggles. Some of our classmates faced challenges that prevented them from continuing their education beyond high school, and with deep sadness, we remember our dear friends who have answered the call of eternity. Though they are no longer with us physically, their memories remain forever woven into the fabric of the 419ers family.
Fellow 419ers, this milestone is a reminder that life is a gift and everyday is an opportunity to grow, serve, and inspire. Regardless of where we are today, whether in Liberia or abroad, whether in success or still striving—let us continue to give thanks and glory to God for preserving us.
May we continue to support one another, celebrate each other’s victories, and remain committed to building better lives for ourselves, our families, and our nation.
