With funding from the Embassy of Ireland in Liberia , this week, ForumCiv and Social Empowerment Through Learning (SELL) collaborated with the Center for Public Private Development to host a one-day Youth Land Rights Policy Dialogue.

The event was graced by the Liberia Land Authority, Governance Commission-Liberia, Ministry of Local Government-Republic of Liberia, National Civil Society Council of Liberia, National Commission On Disabilities, and several youth and women groups.

Through engaging panel discussions on land governance, youth economic empowerment, and responsible land-based investments, the dialogue spotlighted bold ideas and practical solutions. Most importantly, it reaffirmed a shared commitment to placing youth at the center of inclusive land governance and sustainable national development.

The outcome of the dialogue will inform future policy dialogue and advocacy, reinforcing youth inclusion in sustainable land governance.

ForumCiv Congratulations National Alliance for Women's Land Rights on the successful launch of the Alliance for Women’s Land Rights (NAWoLaR) in Monrovia on March 5, 2026. The Alliance emerged from collective advocacy from the Rural Women Land Rights Day 2024 and the Second National Land Conference (Liberia), where stakeholders called for a united platform to advance women’s land rights.

ForumCiv celebrates this important milestone and stands with partners working to ensure that women’s land rights in Liberia are protected and promoted.

In observance of International Women’s Day 2026, ForumCiv stands with women and girls across Liberia and around the world to demand rights, voice, and power.

Women must have secure land tenure rights and meaningful participation in the governance of land and natural resources. When women control land and resources, communities thrive, and development becomes more just and sustainable.

We call for stronger action to:
• Protect and advance women’s land and resource rights
• Ensure women’s leadership and participation in decision-making at all levels
• End gender-based violence in homes, communities, and institutions
• Promote women’s economic empowerment through inclusive opportunities and access to resources

Through our Beyond Rights approach, ForumCiv works with partners and communities to move from recognition of rights to real power, leadership, and economic opportunity for women.

This International Women’s Day, let us turn commitments into action for equality, dignity, and justice.

The National Alliance for Women’s Land Rights (NAWoLaR) officially launches tomorrow, March 5, in Monrovia.
NAWoLaR was created in response to the voices of rural women and national stakeholders calling for one strong platform to protect and promote women’s land rights across Liberia.
Because when women have secure land rights, families thrive and communities grow.

As part of our efforts at ForumCiv Liberia to ensure that our partner, Social Empowerment thorough Learning Liberia - SELL Inc (SELL), is visible and recognized at the national level, we supported SELL’s participation in a national thematic coordination meeting on customary land formalization. Through our existing partnership with the Multi-Actor Platform Liberia, SELL was able to actively engage with key land-sector stakeholders and reconnect with established coordination spaces, including the CSO Working Group on Land Rights. This engagement strengthens SELL’s capacity to elevate local perspectives particularly those of women, youth, and persons with disabilities in Lofa County within broader land governance and policy dialogue.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the Embassy of Ireland in Liberia for the continued support that makes this work possible.

Happy New Year from our team at ForumCiv Liberia.

ForumCiv Liberia continues its capacity-building efforts by supporting a two-day Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop on the Rights Way Forward methodology-a human rights–based tool for promoting inclusive and sustainable land governance, legal empowerment, and participatory land management. Through this initiative, eighteen (18) Social Empowerment thorough Learning Liberia - SELL Inc staff members were trained to strengthen the voices and agency of rights-holders, particularly women, youth, and persons with disabilities.

The training focused on empowering communities to advocate for equitable land governance, advance gender equality, and secure recognition of their land and livelihood rights.

SELL’s participation in these core capacity-development initiatives is expected to significantly enhance communities’ ability to manage their development priorities. This includes strengthening the use of Community Action Plans (CAPs) and improving engagement with government institutions such as the Liberia Land Authority, as well as other stakeholders committed to sustainable development.

ForumCiv remains committed to leveraging its technical expertise to strengthen SELL’s institutional systems while ensuring transparency, accountability, and compliance in the implementation of the project “Building Capacity for Sustainable Land Ownership and Inclusive Development,” implemented by SELL in the Karzah and Kpademai Sections of Voinjama District, Lofa County.

ForumCiv extends sincere appreciation to the Embassy of Ireland in Liberia for its continued support toward inclusive development and sustainable land ownership.

Our institution, ForumCiv Liberia, continues to strengthen the capacity of its implementing partner Social Empowerment thorough Learning Liberia - SELL Inc for effective and compliant project delivery. On December 3, 2025, ForumCiv Liberia conducted a financial management and anti-corruption training in Voinjama, Lofa County, facilitated by our Finance, HR & Administration Manager James Flomo.

The training covered key topics including ForumCiv’s Guide to Corruption; understanding corruption and its definition; corruption as an obstacle to development; corruption context; the fraud triangle; prevention and reporting mechanisms; and principles of investigation, all aimed at promoting financial transparency, strong internal controls, and donor compliance.

This intervention was informed by findings from an Organizational Capacity Assessment (April 2025). ForumCiv remains committed to strengthening SELL’s institutional systems while promoting accountability in project implementation. We sincerely appreciate the Embassy of Ireland in Liberia for their continued support, which makes these capacity-strengthening efforts possible.
