More than 60 community members in Salayea Administrative District, Lofa County, have received training on climate change awareness and safe mining practices through our initiative.
The one-day awareness training was held on June 6, 2026, in Kpeteyea Town and brought together community leaders, environmental advocates, and residents from Kpeteyea Town and Kpoyansayea Town.
The training was designed to equip community members with practical knowledge on climate change and responsible mining activities.
The initiative aims to encourage local action that supports environmental protection and sustainable community development.
“The organization was able to have brought experts from the legal background, and environment to teach community dwellers about their roles in the mining process and also the responsibility of the mining company when it comes to the social agreement, and the community involvement in combating climate change in Liberia"
Participants received information on environmental protection, community rights, and the importance of ensuring that mining activities are carried out in ways that minimize harm to local communities and ecosystems.
Youth Action Lead Liberia has become known for its awareness campaigns on climate change and safe mining, particularly in communities affected by mining activities.
The organization continues to work with local residents to increase understanding of environmental issues.
More than 120 people are expected to benefit from the broader initiative in Lofa County, which is being supported by The Fund for Global Human Rights .
