The General Manager of Jungle Energy Power (JEP), Mr.Aleyou Keita, along with several members of the company’s staff, on Wednesday joined grieving family members and sympathizers at a memorial ceremony held in honor of the late Clarence and Dennis Davis, the two children who tragically lost their lives in a devastating fire incident reportedly linked to an electrical fault in the Chief Compound Community in Gbarnga, B**g County.
Speaking to journalists shortly after the ceremony, Mr. Keita again expressed deep regret over the heartbreaking incident, describing it as the first major accident of its kind involving JEP since the company began operations in Gbarnga.
“We were all shocked by the untimely death of these two children,” Mr. Keita said, noting that as a family man himself, the tragedy deeply affected him and the entire JEP family.
The JEP boss disclosed that the company’s immediate priority was to stand in solidarity with the bereaved family during their time of grief before engaging owners of the four buildings damaged by the fire.
According to him, JEP remains committed to holding discussions with affected property owners, stressing that the victims are valued customers who remain important to the company.
Mr. Keita further revealed that JEP has already submitted its accident report to the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) and other relevant authorities as part of efforts to determine the exact cause of the incident and pave the way for the restoration of electricity to the Chief Compound Community.
He assured residents of B**g County that once the cause of the fire is fully established, the company will draw lessons from the tragedy to prevent any future recurrence.
The memorial ceremony brought together senior officers of the Liberia National Police B**g County Detachment headed by Commander William Johnson, representatives of the Liberia National Fire Service B**g County Detachment, B**g County Administrative Officer D. D Sam Baryougah Elliott Sr.., clergymen, members of the Christian community, and several well-wishers at the residence of Mr. Elliott, where the tragic incident occurred.
