LYIPSUD’s main objective is to promote the development and implementation of new and innovative programs that advance peace, pluralistic democracy and social cohesion throughout Liberia. The main objective is buttressed by several specific objectives targeting key thematic areas/sectors in which LYIPSUD’s intervening role becomes viable in the post war reconstruction and development of Liberia. Sp
ecific Objective I: To provide education and skills development opportunities for the Liberian Youth with priority on the underprivileged, marginalized and discriminated groups. Specific Objective II: Promoting healthy habits through awareness, capacity development and information sharing about harmful life practices in providing technical and professional guidance for Liberian youth to enhance productive living. Specific Objective III: Facilitating the establishment of synergies/networks to complement the efforts of national and international state and non state actors for the implementation of programs where we have shared vision and objectives. Specific Objective IV: Developing innovative programs that complement the global efforts towards the achievement of the millennium development goals. LYIPSUD’s focus is on goals # 1, 2, 3 and 8 with young people as key priorities. LYIPSUD’s programs are also mainstreamed within the Liberia Vision 2030. LYIPSUD’s programmatic focus is in pursuant of the objectives aforementioned:
1.0 Education/Scholarship programs including capacity development programs for youth & student groups, youth-led civil society organizations.
2.0 Advocacy and civic engagement programs promoting grassroots democracy and peace building
Vocational Training and skills development for youth to facilitate self employment and income generation in reducing the burden on national government.
3.0 Livelihood Opportunities for vulnerable groups including women and girls, youth with disabilities through the forming of cooperatives, and community based self help groups; promoting inclusive development at grassroots level.
4.0 Health Programs for vulnerable and adolescent groups focused on girls and women with disabilities who are mostly victims of “double discrimination” in society
Self esteem capacity development initiatives available treatment etc. Vision: We are working towards building a Liberia that is equitably and democratically developed in which all of its citizens feel a part of the national processes.
