PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
For Immediate Release

February 17, 2026

The Management of the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) wishes to inform the general public that it has come to its attention that some customers are being asked to pay money for utility poles, transformers, service wires, and other electrical materials during new connections, reconnections, or while receiving customer service support upon request.

Management categorically states that these materials and services are provided FREE OF CHARGE by the LEC within approved operational areas. No customer is required to make any payment to any employee for poles, transformers, service wires, or during the provision of customer service support.

Customers are strongly advised not to collect money to make any such payments to individuals claiming to represent LEC.

If any LEC employee or representative requests money for these materials or services, please immediately report the incident and provide the following details:
• LEC vehicle board number (if applicable)
• Full name(s) of the employee(s) involved
• Photos or videos (if safely obtainable)
• Date, time, and location of the incident
• Any other relevant information

Gborkon Community dwellers too have blood yah!!!!

I am posting as Chairman of Gborkon Community, Banjor, Lower Virginia, Montserrado County. The attached photos are directly linked to this story.

During the 2023 presidential and general elections, Gborkon Community residents, majority under my aegis, campaigned vigorously to bring this government to power. We craved the promised change; we craved a deviation from the old order. And my people didn't disappoint me. On that rainy day of the Unity Party's closing campaign at the ATS, Gborkon was there, drenched in Sonni pupu water, but exhilarated for the new dawn that was in sight.

But more than six months later, Gborkon Community, which comprises six blocks, largely remains in utter darkness. What did we do wrong to be forgotten?

As Chairman of Gborkon, I am sending this caveat out to the Unity Party (of which I am a card-carrying member and serious mobilizer); that your honeymoon period is over. We will continue to be romanced on the basis of dry dog story. Some of us stood in the vanguard of the rescue mantra not for jobs but for our people to have better options in life. But this doesn't seem to be the case.

Are our people not good enough to receive electricity? Did this government conduct a survey to show that Gborkon Community residents cannot afford to pay LEC current bills? Is Gborkon Community not part of District 17 Montserrado County?

My people are angry to the bone. This is too much pork for shilling!

Gborkon Community Old Field Block lost one of its strongest pillars on Friday July 7, 2023 after a very brief illness. Funeral arrangements will be announced later. Let's rally around the bereaved family and pray for the soul of our dear departed brother Zinnah Johnson.
