Introducing the SIHINA Project 2026 🌟
For a Hopeful Tomorrow✨

This year, the Sihina Project will be renovating a classroom complex at Urugala Sri Dharmaloka School in Ingiriya, Horana. The school serves nearly 400 students from grade 1 to 11, and the renovation will directly benefit the students of grade 9, 10 & 11 who are on the brink of facing O/L's by improving their learning environment. 🏫✨

As the 10th edition of this initiative, the Sihina Project continues to be proudly led by the students of the Department of Radiography and Radiotherapy at General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, established by our seniors from Intake 30. 🎓👏

Happy World Radiography Day! 🩻✨

Today, we celebrate the incredible contributions of Radiographers & Radiation therapists to healthcare.

Here are 5 facts to honor this special day:

1. World Radiography Day is celebrated annually on November 8th, marking the anniversary of Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen’s discovery of X-rays in 1895.
2. Roentgen’s discovery revolutionized medicine and laid the foundation for both Radiography and Radiotherapy.
3. The day highlights the essential role of Radiographers and Radiation therapists in Diagnosis, Treatment and Patient care.
4. It is celebrated worldwide through events, awareness campaigns, and educational activities that spotlight the profession.
5. The 2025 theme, “Empowering Healthcare Through Imaging Excellence,” celebrates how Radiographers and Radiation therapists enhance healthcare by combining technology, skill, and expertise.

Pre-Conference Workshop – KDU-IRC 2025

The Department of Radiography & Radiotherapy successfully conducted the Pre-Conference Workshop of the KDU International Research Conference 2025 on 11th September at the UHKDU Auditorium.

The workshop featured eminent speakers:
• Prof. Pandula Athauda-Arachchi – Head, Department of Paraclinical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, KDU
• Mr. Dilantha S. Kaluduruwage – State Counsel, Attorney General’s Department, Sri Lanka
• Dr. Shama Goonatillake – Consultant Clinical Oncologist, Head, Department of Clinical Oncology, Asiri-American Oncology Institute Cancer Centre
