The "Prospect of Women through Empowered Rights" Project, funded by USAID, PACT, and TAF, held its project induction meeting in December 2024 in the Vavuniya and Mullaitivu districts. The meeting took place across four Divisional Secretariats: Vavuniya and Vavuniya North DSDs in the Vavuniya District, and Thunukkai and Manthai East DSDs in the Mullaitivu District, covering a total of 20 selected Grama Niladhari divisions.

On December 24 2024, FIRM in collaboration with Vavuniya DIRC members, hosted this year’s Christmas celebration at Sithamparapuram Emmanuel Church in Vavuniya. The event brought together six religious leaders, 21 DIRC members, 34 students, and community members from the village. A heartfelt thank you to the National Peace Council for organizing this joyful occasion under the PAIRS project, fostering peace, unity, and togetherness in the community.

"On December 15, 2024, a one-day need-based workshop on Inclusion, Reconciliation, and Social Justice was successfully conducted in Vavuniya District by Dr. Jeevasuthan.

Organized by the National Peace Council under the PAIRS project in collaboration with Federation of Institution for Rural Management (FIRM), Vavuniya, the workshop brought together 30 participants, including religious leaders, government officials, youth leaders, media representatives, professionals, mediation board members, and civil society leaders—ensuring diverse representation and perspectives.

This interactive session fostered meaningful dialogue and strengthened collective efforts toward building an inclusive and peaceful society.

"Strengthening Interfaith Collaboration ✨

On November 9, 2024, the NPC PAIRS Project Team and FIRM hosted the first facilitative meeting for the Vavuniya District Inter-Religious Committee at the Agrarian Community Center.

The meeting brought together 30 diverse participants, including religious leaders, government officials, women leaders, media representatives, youth, and civil society members. Key discussions focused on structural changes, reflecting on past activities, and conducting a baseline survey to guide future initiatives.
