People's Service Council (PSC) is an organization committed to humanitarian work in Sri Lanka nearly for a decade and has strives for the betterment of the vulnerable community groups apart from racial, ethnical, political discrimination. PSC was established in the year of 1999 in the Eastern coastal township of Trincomalee, Sri Lanka and it registered legally with Department of Social Service & W
elfare as a non-Governmental organization Act. No. 31 of 1980 (Registration & Supervision) and the Company Secretariat of Sri Lanka as a not profit organization Act No. 07 of 2007. Our primary target groups come from the Eastern and Northern provinces of Sri Lanka, and we have remarkably implemented our Humanitarian & Development activities successfully, benefiting communities from multi cultural background. The primary focus of PSC is on the problems of the poor in their struggle to obtain a life of justice and dignity. Improvement of Education & Literacy, Poverty elimination and empowerment of the community for self-governance are the most important components and we work to strengthen women leadership and management to enable them to express cultural values and perspectives more powerfully in a multi-cultural community. We do this through education and awareness creation in selected areas and identifying issues and problem of women and children through community participation, and empowering women to raise their voices to the top. we amplify the untold stories of the community and channel them to relevant authority for seeking remedies and creating platform to develop diverse cultural cooperation and Social integration. Education, Human Security, Gender justice & Governance, Livelihood security, Reconstruction & Reintegration are our primary areas of concern.
