The 47th Charter Day Anniversary Celebration was held on 03 May 2026 at 6.00 p.m. at the Rotary House, Trincomalee. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr. N. Mathivannan, Divisional Secretary of Trincomalee Town and Gravets.

President PHF K. Prabakaran warmly welcomed the gathering and briefly highlighted the activities and projects carried out by the club during the past ten months.

During the event, departed Rotarians were respectfully remembered and honoured for their valuable contributions to the Rotary movement.

PP Dr. E.G. Gnanakunalan delivered a brief presentation on the history and development of the Rotary Movement in Trincomalee.

Five senior Rotarians, who had rendered “Service Above Self” for more than 40 years, were honoured in recognition of their dedicated service.

The student who achieved the best results in the Year 5 Scholarship Examination from T/ Shanmuga Hindu Ladies’ School was also felicitated with a cash prize.

Mr. N. Mathivannan, Divisional Secretary of Trincomalee Town and Gravets, delivered the keynote address, sharing his views on future development plans for Trincomalee and the role of Rotary in community service.

The event concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by President-Elect K. Arulvaratharaja.

A significant cattle farm handover ceremony was successfully conducted at the Mawadichenai Women’s Development Society. During the event, 15 cows each were distributed to two community societies, benefiting 90 families from the villages of Mawadichenai and Poonagar East.

The ceremony was honored by the presence of Verugal Divisional Secretary Mr. Anas, Veterinary Surgeon Dr. Ms. Rasna, and Rural Development Officer Mr. Nihal. Key representatives from Rotary also attended, including Service Chair Rtn PP Raguraam, Charter Secretary Rtn PP Thavasilingham, Rtn PP Kidnadas, and Secretary Rtn PP Akilan.

The Rotary Club of Trincomalee, in collaboration with the Interact Club of Pallikkudiyiruppu Kalaimakal vidyalayam, Trincomalee, has successfully supported 25 needy students of Pallikkudiyiruppu Kalaimakal Vidyalayam through the donation of shoes as part of a disaster relief initiative.

This timely assistance has eased the financial burden on affected families and ensured that students can continue attending school with comfort, dignity, and confidence. The project has helped restore normalcy in their education after difficult circumstances, while also improving attendance and motivation among students. By addressing an essential need, Rotary has strengthened its commitment to supporting vulnerable communities during disaster situations. The joint effort also fosters youth engagement and community solidarity, creating a meaningful and lasting positive impact on children’s education and well-being.
